The Sunday Social, Week 8

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Before I get started on this week’s post, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who voted in Nathan’s Bloggy Awards! Because of your votes, The Sunday Social was voted best link-up!
How cool is that?
Neely and I are so honored that you guys love linking up with us! Thanks for your support! Also, big thanks again to Nathan for being an awesome host! If you don’t follow his blog, you should. Go now!
Alrighty, on to this week’s questions!
Several of these come from Lindsey from Follow the Ruels! Thanks so much Lindsey!
Here are my answers to this week’s questions!
1. What is your dream job?
Ohhhh, this is a tough one! Realistically, my dream job was to work in the adoption field, either with adoptive families or birth mothers. I was fortunate enough to spend three years doing both, and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything! Now, for a “dream” job, I would say cohost of the Today Show. No, really, I wanted to cohost with Matt Lauer. I LOVE the news, and the Today Show was always on while I was getting ready for school.
2. If you had just won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
Um…sleep? Read blogs? I would probably spend lots of time with my family and friends, and maybe travel a little bit too.

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Katie Couric :) I’ve always been a big news fan, and I have this intense need to know what’s going on in the world. When I was in 5th grade, my class did a weather project where we had to break into groups and make up a fake weather report. I was picked to be weathergirl in my group. Our teacher videoed them, and then the class voted who gave the best report, and I won! That kinda got me thinking that news reporting might be what I wanted to do with my life, and I pursued it until my sophomore year of college.

4. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?

Well…I haven’t been doing what I’m doing for very long, so I don’t feel qualified to give specific advice. But in general, I would say find something that makes you happy, do your best, and follow your heart!

5. What are your biggest pet peeves in life, blogging, or at work?

Senseless drama, in life, blogging, AND at work

6. What are your biggest fears?

My biggest fears are spiders, tornadoes, and flying in an airplane.
Your turn! Answer the questions, grab the button, and link up with Neely and me!
Next week’s questions

3. What is something fun about fall in your area?
4. What are your favorite fall outfit staples?

Stop & Smell the Roses Vlog

Hey y’all!
I’m excited to be linking up again today with Mandy at House of Rose for her vlogging series Stop & Smell the Roses!

Stop and Smell the Roses
I’ve participated several times, and I’m excited to do it again today! It’s super fun, and you should do it too! Just film a short video telling us something you are thankful for, something that has made you happy this week, something that you are loving this week, or a combination of all three!

Here’s what I’m loving this week!
Now it’s your turn! I wanna see your vlogs! Link ‘em up with Mandy!
Don’t forget that tomorrow marks one year of Neely and Amber’s It’s Ok! Tomorrow will be lots of fun, so you should link up with them too!
Y’all have a great Wednesday!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!
Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was fun!
Friday after work, I went out to Joyce and Wade’s house. They had all of their babies plus three of Joyce’s nieces from Japan. They set up a huge slip&slide down a hill in their front yard, and the kids had a fabulous time!

Poor Little Bit kept crashing! She never smiled or laughed the whole time, but kept going down over and over!

Kazuki was hilarious!

W was one of the first to change into her swimsuit, but then she refused to go down. Colby & D finally had enough and made her go!

It was a lot of fun to watch! The Littles had fun, but the big kids did too!
Saturday I worked, and after work we all went out to celebrate Annie’s birthday! We were a couple of weeks late, but we had a great time! We went to a fun burger place and then had s’mores for dessert!

Birthday girl!

I know I say this every time I post pics of me and the girls, but we seriously have a fantastic time together! I love that we can have fun together outside of work.
Hope y’all have a great Monday!

The Sunday Social, Week 7

Sunday Social
Hey y’all!

I am super excited about today’s Sunday Social! Not kidding, I have an addiction to purses! They are just so much fun! I can’t wait to see all of yours!

1. What is your favorite handbag you’ve ever owned?
My favorite is my Louis Vuitton! I got it in college, and I absolutely love it!
2. What is your dream handbag you lust over?
My Louis is my dream handbag! I love it, but I definitely wouldn’t mind adding another one to my collection :)

3. What are the daily essentials in your purse or work bag?
I have to have my wallet, keys, phone, sunglasses, checkbook, and a few pens. Don’t get me wrong, there’s waaaaaaay more stuff in there, but those are the necessitites!

4. What’s in your purse (with pictures)?
I’m so embarrassed to be showing this, but here’s what I’ve been carrying most recently, minus receipts and trash!
My pretty bag! It’s by Jessica Simpson, and I just adore it! It can hold so much stuff and it’s cute!
Here’s what’s inside!
The pink is my wallet and the black and white is my checkbook. The blue is my brother’s checkbook. Not sure why I have that…
Mint M&Ms, sunglasses, my iPod, iPhone charger, keys, and gum. Yes, I still listen to my super old iPod. Frees up more space on my phone!
Camera is a necessity!

Meds for every ailment :)

Gussy love! I use the wallet to carry money/receipts for work, and the wristlet (from Neely!) carries some miscellaneous stuff that I don’t want rolling around in the bottom of my purse.

Inside the wristlet! Pretty pens, mints, lip gloss, a flash drive, and my bloggy business cards! The business card holder is from The Pleated Poppy.
Alrighty, it’s your turn! I want to see your cute purse! Grab our button, answer the questions, and link up your post with Neely and me!

Have a fabulous Sunday!

Bloggy Date!

Hey y’all!
One of the things that I love most about blogging is that I have made such great friends all over the country! What makes it even better is actually getting to spend time with those friends in person. Yesterday was just wonderful because Rebekah is in OKC visiting her family, and we got to meet for lunch!
Rebekah is one of the first bloggers that I really started following. I have always felt such a connection with her, not just because we’re both from Oklahoma, but because I feel like we’re so much alike! Every time we get together, for me it’s like we’ve just always been friends! I just love that we get to hang out when she comes to Oklahoma!
One of the other great things is that since we’re both bloggers, we get to actually talk about the blogging community with someone who really understands! It’s so hard to explain blogging to people who don’t get it. Rebekah and I have a lot of the same blogger friends, so it’s so much more fun to talk about bloggers with someone who knows who they are!
We had such a fun time playing jewelry at The Vintage Pearl, and we had a great lunch and chat at Cool Greens. Rebekah, I had a fabulous time, and I can’t wait for next time!
Don’t forget, I’m planning a Q&A vlog soon, so if you have questions for me, leave them on this post!
Have a great Thursday!

Any Questions?

Hey y’all!
Hope you’re all having a great Tuesday!
A little over a year ago, I took reader questions and did a series of Questions & Answer vlogs. Since I’ve gotten quite a few new followers in the last year, I thought I’d give a chance for my new (and old!) readers to get to know me a little better.
I’ll leave this open for questions for the rest of the week. Leave your questions in the comments, or tweet or email me, and I’ll answer your questions (within reason!) in a vlog or two next week.
So, what do you want to know about me??

Hey Friends!

Hey y’all!

I’m finally back!

Wow, last week was…tough.

On Tuesday evening, I posted this picture on Instagram.

Five hours later, I was throwing up…
I’m pretty sure that I had a bit of food poisoning. I was absolutely miserable, and I spent all day Wednesday and most of the day Thursday in my bed.
This little fella really enjoyed having me home and snuggled with me most of the day.
He kept checking up on me to make sure I was ok :)
By Friday I was feeling much better, and I was able to go back to work.
Friday afternoon, I got to have lunch with Tracy!
It has been soooooo long since we’ve had grown-up girl time, and I really enjoyed getting to catch up with her. I’m so thankful for her friendship!
Yesterday at church was our annual Missions Sunday. This service is where we take up a special contribution to fund all of the mission groups that we support for the next year. Leading up to it, we’ve been having people from different countries skyping in during our services to lead prayers. I wanted to share a few pictures from our service this morning.
Flags representing many of the countries where we have sent mission groups
Our former minister spoke on how we are commanded to go out into the world to spread the gospel.

The service ended with our elders taking up the special contribution. We found out later that we surpassed our goal by a little over $17,000! I think this was my 6th Missions Sunday, and every year I am just blown away by the generosity of the people in my church. Our church is known for being very missions-minded, and I love seeing the ways we support mission works.
One last thing before I go! If you have a minute, I’d love for you to vote for me in Nathan’s Bloggy awards!
Life & Everything Else In Between
I’m ridiculously excited to be nominated in several categories, along with Neely and Lori! I’d love it if you’d vote for them too!

I hope y’all have a wonderful Monday!

The Sunday Social, Week 6

Sunday Social
Hey y’all!

Sundays are quickly becoming my favorite week in blogland! :)

This week’s questions are all about vacations!

Here we go!

1. What is the best trip you’ve ever been on?
I couldn’t choose, so I have two!

Last summer, Neely and I went to Chicago to visit Meghan! We had a fabulous time together!
In the summer of 2009, my momma, Mom-mom, and I went to Memphis and Nashville!
Graceland!
We met country singer Holly Williams at her shop H. Audrey
Coyote Ugly :)
2. What is your best idea for a girls weekend trip?
I LOVE Dallas, especially since some of my favorite people live there!
It’s a close drive for me, but it’s still getting out of Oklahoma. There’s lots of fun stuff to do, or if I’m just needing a chill weekend, I can just relax with my girls.
3. What is your best idea for a couples trip?

Sorry folks, got nothing for you here!

4. What is the best vacation on the cheap?
Honestly, I love taking a vacation to go back home!
I don’t get to go home nearly as much as I’d like. I love just chilling at home with my family, staying up late talking to my momma, and sleeping in my old bedroom.
My bestie and her family live there too, so I love to spend as much time with them as possible!
5. What is the place you most want to visit?

I really really want to go to Europe! I want to see Paris, London, and several places in Italy. I think I’m going to have to get over my fear of flying first…unless someone wants to take a boat with me!
6. What are your vacation necessities?

My vacation necessities are whatever things are listed on my packing list from Neely! No seriously, I have at least one from her. Maybe two. She’s the most organized packer I’ve ever met!

Now it’s your turn! Grab our button, answer the questions on your blog, and then link up your post with Neely and me!

Also, The Sunday Social is nominated in Nathan’s Bloggy Awards!
Life & Everything Else In Between
If you love The Sunday Social as much as we do, please head over and vote for us! Neely and I are also each nominated in several categories, so we’d really appreciate your votes! Thanks a bunch!

Next week’s questions

Week 7 is all about handbags!

1. What is your favorite handbag you’ve ever owned?
2. What is your dream handbag you lust over?
3. What are the daily essentials in your purse or work bag?
4. What’s in your purse (with pictures)?

We are also taking ideas for questions and themes for future posts! If you have ideas, email one of us or leave them in the comments. If we use your idea, you’ll get a shout-out in the post!

Have a great Sunday!

4th…um…6th of July

Hey y’all!

Because all of our teenagers were at church camp last week, we postponed our big 4th of July party to Friday.

Before the fireworks got started, we had a big flag football game!

They played for about two hours, and they had such a great time!

Sweet girls in their wagon!

Pretty fireworks!
The babies are in most of the rest of the pictures, so I’m not going to be posting those, but we had a really fun time!
Hope y’all have a great Tuesday!
