My Fabulous Weekend Update

Hey y’all!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
I am pretty exhausted, but my weekend was wonderful! Things didn’t go quite like we planned, but it was still a great weekend!
Early afternoon on Friday, I headed down to Dallas to spend the weekend with my bff Neely! We hadn’t seen each other since Blissdom, and six months is just waaaaaay too long!
As soon as I got to Dallas, we went to get pedicures. On our way home, we stopped at Gigi’s to get cupcakes!

Pretty, isn’t it?!
Friday evening, Chad picked us up, and we headed to Victor Tango’s to meet Kiley, Caitrin, and Collin!
Soooo happy to be together again!

Neely and Chad

Carnitas tacos and crab mac & cheese! Best meal ever! It’s been 10 months since I’ve had it, and it was AMAZING!

Love these girls!

My sweet Kiley D!

The jenga game was giving Neely fits :)

A quick picture in the mist!
Saturday morning, we headed out into the boonies to visit Laura and meet her new baby C!

It was so wonderful to see Laura again!! Seriously y’all, this girl is a rock star!

Baby C is so perfect! Laura has the most beautiful children!

There is a Wisteria Lane in Laura’s neighborhood, so I had to have a picture! Any other Desperate Housewives fans??
After we left Laura’s, we stopped at Mi Cocina, because no Dallas trip is complete without some Mexican food :)
We chilled at Neely’s house for a bit, then headed out to the Brad Paisley concert!

Waiting outside in line! So excited!

The beautiful clouds headed our way

Our view of the stage! We were soooo close!

Shortly after we got to our seats, the rain started. The lawn had been full, then everyone scattered.

The roof started leaking inside!! We thought we were safe because our seats were covered, but not so much…

The roof leaked all over the speakers and other sound equipment, so they ended up CANCELLING the concert! They decided it was too big of a safety hazard, so they called it off. We were pretty bummed, but the concert is being rescheduled, so hopefully I’ll be able to go back for it!
We stopped to get a pizza, and then we went back to Neely’s house and watched Shag and Dawson’s Creek in our pajamas! I may or may not have been asleep by 10:30. We’re so cool. Haha!

Slumber party!
Sunday morning, we met Caitrin and Ally for brunch!

We had a really great time! I love hanging out with Caitrin, and it was wonderful meeting Ally!
Oh Neely, it was such a wonderful weekend! I can’t wait for the next one! We better not wait six months for our next weekend! Love you dear!

The Sunday Social, Week 11

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

It’s week 11 of Sunday Social! These questions are all about childhood!

1. What were you like in Middle School/HS?(pictures)
I was awkward…but weren’t we all?? I was one of the smart ones, and I was in mostly honors classes. My friends were cheerleaders, but I was definitely not coordinated enough for that! In high school, I was in color guard, and I was captain my senior year. I was also involved in student council, and I was editor of the school newspaper.
Jessica and I at 8th grade graduation

Junior year

One of my senior pictures

I was also very blonde :)

2. What were your favorite past times?

Jessica and I spent a lot of time at each other’s houses.  In middle school we liked to carry a CD player out to her trampoline and dance. In high school, we drove around town in her jeep blasting our favorite music. We hung out at Sonic a lot too :) It was the big hangout in town!

3. What songs were you obsessed with?

I was definitely *NSYNC obsessed! I also loved Garth Brooks and Kelly Clarkson. Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” was definitely a favorite song!

4. What fashion statement do you look back on and cringe?
I couldn’t get the picture to work, but there are just SO many! The huge bangs, fanny packs…it was awful.

5. Who was your celeb crush?

I was pretty obsessed with JC Chasez from *NSYNC, duh! :)

6. What were your favorite tv shows/movies?
I loved 7th Heaven, Boy Meets World, 90210, Any Day Now, and American Idol. Favorite movies were A Walk to Remember, Legally Blonde, She’s All That…goodness, there are so many!

Now it’s your turn! Grab our button, answer the questions, and link up your posts with us! Please don’t link up unless you did a post!

Women of Faith Weekend Update

Hey y’all!
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
Mine was…incredible. I don’t really know how to even begin to describe what this weekend was like, but I will do my best.
Women of Faith was held in Oklahoma City this weekend. When the speakers were announced, Jessica and I were thrilled that Angie Smith was on the schedule!
I’ve been reading Angie’s blog for at least three years, and I think Jessica has been reading about that long too. I have laughed with her and cried happy and sad tears with her. I’ve been so inspired by Angie and Todd’s faith as they lost their precious Audrey. I knew that I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to see Angie!
Jessica came up Friday afternoon, and we headed down to Chesapeake Arena.
Sitting with my bestie waiting for it to start! We had floor seats!

Yay!
Our fabulous speakers! L-R Pat Smith, Christine Caine, Sheila Walsh, Ken Davis, Liz Curits Higgs, and Angie Smith

Cece Winans performed! She has one of the most incredible voices I’ve ever heard!

Ken Davis

Sheila Walsh
When it was over, Jessica and I had our traditional dessert-key lime pie!

Waiting for day two to start!

The Jesus Painter

Liz Curtis Higgs-I’d never heard of her before Women of Faith, but I kinda love her! She said some of the coolest things! “Eve only had one commandment and it was a diet! She couldn’t have thrown it all away for an apple…it had to be chocolate.” “You are God’s definition of beautiful for you.”

Christine Caine

Ballet Magnificat performed several times. Jessica and I decided that Sweet P needs to be a ballet dancer. No, really.

They were wonderful!

Finally, the moment we’d waited all weekend for!
The incredible Angie Smith!

“God is in the deep.”

At the end of her presentation, Selah performed “I Turn to You”.
When Angie was finished, Jessica and I ran to the autograph line. We HAD to meet her!
So excited!

I adore this picture! It was such an honor to meet her, and we had a beautiful few moments together! I told her what an honor it was to meet her, and that I’ve been following her blog for around three years. I told her how Audrey’s story touched me so much, and I thanked her for sharing Audrey with us. She took my hand and said “Thank you for knowing Audrey.” I started crying, and I’m teary again just writing about it. She said that she prays when she goes to the autograph line that someone in the crowd will be someone who follows her, someone who knows her precious family.

She was just so sweet! It was more wonderful than I imagined it would be!

This is my new blog friend Courtney! We met in the line to meet Angie! We were just talking about Angie, and she mentioned she had a blog, so I told her I do too! We exchanged blog addresses, and we had to have a picture together! Excuse my puffy eyes and red nose :)

Q&A with our speakers

Angie answering a question

Pat Smith! She is married to Emmitt Smith, and she is the cutest little thing ever!

Angie and Sheila introducing Selah!

Todd!

Amy!

Allan!

They are wonderful! I am so glad we got to see them! After their first song, Todd stopped and looked over at Angie and said, “You were amazing today. I’m so proud of you.” We started crying again!

Todd teaching Sheila and an audience member on of their African songs

I got to meet Todd! He was super nice, shaking my hand, asking my name, and thanking me for coming. So cool to meet him and Angie both!

One last shot of Angie during the closing!
What a wonderful time we had! I’m so thankful that we got to experience this weekend together. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a weekend just the two of us, so I’m glad we got girl time and I’m glad we got to meet Angie together!
My weekend was pretty full, so I’ll be back later this week with the rest of the weekend recap!
Have a great Monday, y’all!

The Sunday Social, Week 10

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Today is week 10 of The Sunday Social! Big thanks again to everyone who links up with Neely and me!

This week’s questions are all about food, and they were submitted to us from Lindsey and Christine! Thanks ladies!

1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chocolate. More specifically dark chocolate M&Ms
2. What’s your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Chocolate and a Dr. Pepper. Anytime I need a pick-me-up in the form of food, that’s where I go!
3. What’s the weirdest/craziest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Um…in 4th grade, our science teacher made us try seaweed. It’s actually not terrible, but I don’t really think I’d ever eat it again.
4. What foods do you avoid at all costs?
Asian food because I don’t like the weird sauces, and barbecue because the smell of it brings back the horrible food poisoning memories from my Tennessee trip.
5. What meal reminds you of your childhood?
There are lots! My mom and my Mom-mom are both good cooks, so we’ve had LOTS of good meals throughout my childhood. The things that stick out most in my mind are the desserts :) Mom’s cheesecakes for birthdays or other occasions, Mom-mom’s cookie press cookies at Christmas time…all good stuff.
6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
One of our family’s favorite meals, especially in the winter, is taco soup. It’s really good and super easy, just the way I like it :)
Taco Soup
2 lbs. ground beef, browned and drained
1 chopped onion
1 can chili/no beans
2 cans chili beans
1 can stewed diced tomatoes
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 lb velveeta cheese
16 ounce sour cream
Combine all ingredients except for sour cream and heat thoroughly. Add sour cream ten minutes before you are ready to serve. Serve over chips and top with grated cheese.
So easy, right??
Alrighty, if you’ve linked up before, you know what to do! Grab the button, answer the questions, and link them up!!

It’s Ok…

Its Ok Thursdays
Hey y’all!

Linking up with my loves Neely and Amber!

I’d really love it if you’d take a second and send up a quick prayer for Neely’s dad! He’s still in the hospital, and I know Neely and her family would really appreciate your prayers

Now, here’s what’s on my mind this week.

It’s Ok…

…to be ready for the Olympics to be over so you can get some sleep. Seriously, it’s getting ridiculous.

…to put off recording your Q&A vlog because the last thing you want to do after coming home from work is make your self camera-ready. Oops :)

…to be obsessed with your new Gussy bag!
So cute, right?
…to have one of these, just because it’s Tuesday and you want one.
You know you’d do it too!
…to scream with your friend via Skype over new baby clothes :)
…to stare at your computer screen trying to figure out what to blog about…
…and, to be pretty sure you need to link up for Sunday Social this week!

Birthday Boy!

Hey y’all!
Yesterday was Little Boy’s first birthday! We’ve only had him a couple of months, but it’s hard to believe he’s already a year old! Monday night, Colby and I went out to Joyce and Wade’s to celebrate our sweet little man! Little Miss and Little Bit came out with their mom and dad too!
As you know, I can’t show their sweet faces, but I do have a few pictures I can share!
He loved his cake! I wish y’all could’ve heard his cute little giggle and seen his sweet little face covered in icing!

Once they got him to put his hands in the cake, he LOVED it!
Little Girl and Little Miss had so much fun on the trampolines!
Little Bit and Little Boy love their little wagon! Aren’t they the cutest??
I love celebrating the birthdays of these sweet Littles! I’m so thankful that we get to be a part of their lives, even if it is just for a short time! I pray that we get to be involved in their lives forever, and in the meantime, I’m just enjoying loving them!
Have a great Wednesday, y’all!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
Big thanks to everyone who linked up for Sunday Social yesterday! Neely and I are still seriously shocked by the number of people linking up, and we appreciate every person who takes the time to link up with us! Y’all are awesome!
Also, my little blog hit 500 followers yesterday! I still don’t know why anyone wants to read my ramblings, but I love y’all for following along! I’m working on a giveaway, and I’ll let y’all know when I get that worked out!
I don’t have too much of a weekend update, but I did get to have a little bit of fun!
My weekend started early when Becky asked to work the afternoon for me at the shop!
I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon and evening of Karen Kingsbury books, Sonic DP, and BH 90210 original flavor!
Saturday I worked, and then after work I had a fun little girls night with M and E, two girls from my church. We ordered pizza, watched a movie, and had LOTS of girl talk!
These girls are super sweet, and I loved hanging out with them! M also let me wear one of her dresses to church Sunday morning :)
Their dog Sooner was so much fun too!
He likes sitting up like this, and he will sit like that for a long time! He’s so cute!
I’m so excited this week is finally here! My bestie Jessica is coming up this weekend so we can go to Women of Faith!
Angie Smith is speaking, and Selah and CeCe Winans are performing! Angie is one of our favorite bloggers, and we both LOVE her book I Will Carry You! We’ve wanted to see her speak for a long time, and I’m so glad we get to finally see her together! Can’t wait!
Hope y’all have a great Monday!

I love watching football games! I watch OU and Dallas Cowboys games with friends almost every weekend!

2. Do you follow a football team? If so which one and why?

Yes! OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys! I also like the Indianapolis Colts. Joyce and Wade’s family are super into OU football, so when I started hanging out with them, I had no choice but to become a fan. Now I love it! I grew up watching the Cowboys, so I’ve always liked them.
3. What is something fun about fall in your area?
I honestly can’t think of anything for this one…

4. What are your favorite fall outfit staples?

Cardigans!! When it starts getting cooler, I start freezing, so I never leave the house without one!
5. What things are you looking forward to most about this coming fall season?
There’s quite a few fun fall things happening for me! Sweet P turns one in October, and her daddy turns 30! Also, Lori and I are going to see Carrie Underwood in concert. My family Thanksgiving is always big and always fun, so I can’t wait to hang out with the family for a few days!

Happy Birthday Momma & Daddy!

Hey y’all!
Hope y’all are having a great week! Like the rest of the world, I’ve been totally wrapped up in the Olympics this week, so I’ve been away from the blog world.
Saturday, my sweet girls at work covered the shop for me so I could go home to see my family. I hadn’t seen my momma since April and hadn’t seen my daddy, grandparents, and best friend since March, so it was wonderful to go home, even for a quick trip.
Colby and I went home to celebrate Momma and Daddy’s birthdays. Momma’s birthday is today, and Daddy’s is tomorrow!
I have the best parents ever!

Momma made amazing enchiladas!

She also made a wonderful cheesecake. No skinnies for me!

The fam

Daddy had to work most of the weekend, but I’m so glad we got to spend a little bit of time with him. I’ve missed him a lot!

Aunt Betty was visiting, so it was wonderful to get to see her too!

Aunt Betty, Mom-mom, and Momma
After we left Mom-mom and Grandaddy’s house, Momma and I went to see Jessica and her family!
My Sweet P is getting so big!!

She was in a pageant Saturday, and she won Ultimate Grand Supreme!

She’s the cutest little girl ever!
Sunday morning was church and lunch with the family!

It was so great to spend some time at home. I think this is the longest I’ve ever gone without going home, and even though I only spent a little over 24 hours there, it was so good for my heart!
Happy Birthday Momma! I hope you have a fabulous day today!
