A Year of Foster Care

A little over a year ago, Wade and Joyce made the decision to become foster parents. After trying unsuccessfully to adopt for a few years, they decided to foster instead. As someone who was “adopted” by them, I knew they were going to be fantastic foster parents. What I didn’t know was how my life was going to be greatly affected by their foster care journey.

A year ago today, our lives were changed forever when we met two precious little girls. They were so tiny and so sweet! They both completely stole my heart the moment the caseworker brought them into the office.

It was so much fun having two little girls around their house!

There were pigtails…
purses…
and lots of puppy love!

It was so much fun watching Little Miss going through the fun two-year-old learning phase! She was absolutely into EVERYTHING, but I loved watching her learn!

Little Bit pretty much thought Colby was the greatest thing in the world, and he LOVES his baby girl!

Yep, he’s playing the Wii while holding Little Bit :)

Over the summer, the girls were reunified with their mom and dad. As devastating as it was for us to let them go, we were blessed so much more because we got to add their sweet mom and dad to this big family! They worked so hard to fix the issues in their lives to make things right and get their girls back. Now, they love coming out to Wade and Joyce’s house to have dinner, watch ball games, and just hang out. Wade and Joyce also keep the girls nearly every weekend to give their mom and dad a bit of a break and some time to themselves. It also just give us a chance to still be a part of the girls’ lives.

We had a great summer with them! Their family came over a lot, so there were lots of kiddos around and lots of fun!

So much cuteness I can hardly stand it :)

As new foster kiddos have come into the house, it’s been fun to watch Little Miss and Little Bit have playmates their own ages! They just love their new friends!

It’s been a crazy year, full of ups and downs with the girls. From the excitement of getting them, to the overwhelming desire to keep them forever, to the heartbreak of letting them go, to the joy of having their whole family in our lives, it’s been quite the rollercoaster. As hard as it was at times, after seeing this end result, their family being together and us still getting to love them, I think we would all go through it again. They have brought so much joy to all of us, and I can’t imagine not ever knowing them.

One of these days when everything is over, I will share pictures of their sweet little faces. I can’t wait for y’all to see them!

Oh, one more fun little fact about the girls…
They sure do love Mexican food :)

A Scavenger Hunt, TVP Style

Hey y’all!

A couple of weeks ago, Becky’s sweet dog that she’s had since she was a kid had to be put to sleep :( She was really sick, and it absolutely devastated Becky and her mom. Annie found a cute stuffed dog that looked just like Becky’s dog, and she bought it for her! Instead of just giving it to her, Annie and I decided to put together a little scavenger hunt and make Becky work to find her surprise :)

Annie started working on the clues. Unfortunately, Becky showed up to work early, so we had to scramble around to quickly finish the clues!

Clue #1

The first clue sent her outside to the mailbox.

That clue sent her to a piece of jewelry.

Next she found her clue in one of the order files.

“the second star to the right”!

Kendall, Cathy, & Annie
We had the best time watching Becky try to figure out the clues!

Becky found her package waaaaay up high in our storage room!

Finally opening her present!

Such a fun surprise!

Love you Becky!

Fall Swap Reveal

Hey y’all!

A couple of weeks ago I participated in Neely, Erin, and Tracy‘s fall swap! I was paired with Melanie from Career Desires to Bottles & Diapers! She is super sweet, and I’m so glad we were paired up!
Career Desires to Bottles and Diapers

She sent me a very fun package!

She sent a super cute scarf, a Starbucks card, dark chocolate M&Ms (my favorite!), and a copy of In Style magazine! Good stuff!

Thanks Melanie! I’m so glad to have made a new bloggy friend!

Big thanks to Neely, Erin, and Tracy for hosting!

Have a great Wednesday, y’all!

How About a little Boob Tube Babble?

Hey, it used to be my link-up, so I can bring it back for a day if I want to :)

I thought today I’d talk a little TV.

So, up first, Army Wives, duh!
Anyone else watch the season finale? I thought the episode was pretty boring for the most part. I don’t know what’s happened this season, but it seems like it’s really gotten away from the good stuff. Plus, the plane crash, or at least what looked like a plane crash! They can’t kill off everyone! I’m totally not ok with this!

During the finale, I tweeted with the Army Wives twitter account, and I found out later that I won an Army Wives prize pack!
It had two seasons DVD and a copy of the book that inspired the series!
The book was signed by the author Tanya Biank…

…and, JJ Soria, the actor who plays Hector! Pretty cool!

Anyone watching Dancing with the Stars All-Stars?
I am LOVING this season! There are so many great people on this season that I can’t choose a favorite! There’s Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Melissa Rycroft, Emmitt Smith, Giles Marini, Shawn Johnson, Bristol Palin, Apollo Ohno…how do you choose??

I’m so mad at Shonda Rhimes. No really, how can she justify killing Pete?! I adored him with Violet, and the show won’t be the same without him. Sads.

Speaking of sads…
McSteamy. is. gone. :( Out of all of the deaths on this show, I think his was the hardest. Yes, he was kind of an awful guy, but I loved him! I don’t really understand the reason for his death either. Neely and I had already decided that he and Addison were going to end up together. Come on, Shonda…

What shows are you watching? Any thoughts on Army Wives, DWTS, Private Practice, or Grey?

The Sunday Social, Week 17

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Today is week 17 of The Sunday Social! Can you believe it?

These questions are all about our childhoods!

1. What do you miss most about being a kid?
Not having to pay rent! No seriously, I miss being at home with my family. I miss living close to my friends. I miss my jump rope team, and I miss all of the cool things we got to do together!

2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it?

A lot of friends have always called me Ash, but my momma and daddy always called me Ladybug. I think that’s why I love them so much!

3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess?
I don’t really remember much about what we did at recess. I think me and my friends just sat around chatting. We had a great time!

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be co-anchor of the Today Show!

5. What was your favorite toy?

I had LOTS of Barbies! They were definitely my favorite things to play with!

6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about?

Oh goodness, there are so many. I have always been teased for my blonde moments. I’m not going to mention them because I would only embarrass myself. Sorry y’all! :)

Hana Pro Flat Iron Review

Hey y’all!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Misikko and was asked to review a Hana Pro flat iron! After trying out Neely’s a few weeks ago, I definitely wanted to try one of my own!

My hair has just enough wave in it that I can’t just blow dry it and go.
Believe it or not, it takes work to look this good :)

I got a very fun package from Misikko! They sent the flat iron with lots of other goodies!

I absolutely LOVE my Hana Pro! It is by far the best flat iron I’ve ever used, and believe me, I’ve used a lot! It has definitely decreased the amount of time it takes me to get ready in the mornings. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on my hair since I started using it too!
It’s practically a miracle worker!

If you’re interested in Misikko products, check out their flat irons and hair dryers here!

*This product was sent to me to review. All opinions are my own.

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Friday after work, I met Joyce, Little Miss, and Little Girl at Oklahoma Christian to watch Joyce’s niece Jonna and her roommate Mahya perform during Freshman Fanfare.
They were so cute! The little girls had a wonderful time. Little Miss started copying the dances and doing the moves sitting on Joyce’s lap. It was precious!
These girls are so precious!

After the show, we all went to Braum’s for ice cream!
Sorry for the weird-shaped pics! Had to crop out the little girls’ faces :)

We had so much fun just hanging out and having some girl time. We don’t get to do that very often, so I really enjoyed it! These girls are just super sweet!

Saturday, I worked at the shop in the morning, and then I headed to Tulsa to hang out at the shop there! I haven’t been back up there since my training ended in March, so I LOVED being back there! I got to spend lots of great time with Angela! She has been so wonderful, and I couldn’t do what I do without her!

Sunday was church, lunch with Joyce, the Littles, and the college kids, and then a loooong afternoon nap!

How was your weekend?

My computer has been in the shop for a couple of days, and I’m so glad I got it back just in time for Sunday Social!

I’m SO excited for Thanksgiving with the fam! I also can’t wait to celebrate the first birthday of this little princess in just a few weeks!

I would love to see it continue to grow, and I want to continue to meet wonderful friends!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Big thanks to everyone that linked up with Neely and me for Sunday Social yesterday! We love that so many of y’all love it!

Friday evening, I ended up meeting Joyce at Target to pick up a few things I needed for work and to get some new clothes for her Littles. This week got really cold really fast, and we don’t have a lot of warm clothes for the new kiddos! After we shopped, I went with her to pick up Little Miss and Little Bit for the weekend. I’m so glad I got to spend a few minutes with those sweet girls. I just adore them!

Saturday was the second anniversary of The Vintage Pearl’s Tulsa store! We had a huge sale at my shop to celebrate! Our store was super busy all day long. There were lots of items on sale, and we also debuted a bunch of new pieces! I love them all! We were exhausted by the end of the day, but we had a great time!
Annie & me! She is too precious! She was also the winner of a little competition we had last week :)

Niesha and Angela came down from Tulsa to help out! I loved getting to hang out with them for the day! They are amazing girls!

I spent all day yesterday in bed with a migraine, but I’m hoping today is much better!

Have a happy Monday!
