A little over a year ago, Wade and Joyce made the decision to become foster parents. After trying unsuccessfully to adopt for a few years, they decided to foster instead. As someone who was “adopted” by them, I knew they were going to be fantastic foster parents. What I didn’t know was how my life was going to be greatly affected by their foster care journey.
A year ago today, our lives were changed forever when we met two precious little girls. They were so tiny and so sweet! They both completely stole my heart the moment the caseworker brought them into the office.
It was so much fun having two little girls around their house!
There were pigtails…
purses…
and lots of puppy love!
It was so much fun watching Little Miss going through the fun two-year-old learning phase! She was absolutely into EVERYTHING, but I loved watching her learn!
Little Bit pretty much thought Colby was the greatest thing in the world, and he LOVES his baby girl!
Yep, he’s playing the Wii while holding Little Bit :)
Over the summer, the girls were reunified with their mom and dad. As devastating as it was for us to let them go, we were blessed so much more because we got to add their sweet mom and dad to this big family! They worked so hard to fix the issues in their lives to make things right and get their girls back. Now, they love coming out to Wade and Joyce’s house to have dinner, watch ball games, and just hang out. Wade and Joyce also keep the girls nearly every weekend to give their mom and dad a bit of a break and some time to themselves. It also just give us a chance to still be a part of the girls’ lives.
We had a great summer with them! Their family came over a lot, so there were lots of kiddos around and lots of fun!
So much cuteness I can hardly stand it :)
As new foster kiddos have come into the house, it’s been fun to watch Little Miss and Little Bit have playmates their own ages! They just love their new friends!

It’s been a crazy year, full of ups and downs with the girls. From the excitement of getting them, to the overwhelming desire to keep them forever, to the heartbreak of letting them go, to the joy of having their whole family in our lives, it’s been quite the rollercoaster. As hard as it was at times, after seeing this end result, their family being together and us still getting to love them, I think we would all go through it again. They have brought so much joy to all of us, and I can’t imagine not ever knowing them.
One of these days when everything is over, I will share pictures of their sweet little faces. I can’t wait for y’all to see them!
Oh, one more fun little fact about the girls…
They sure do love Mexican food :)
