Labor Day Weekend

Hey y’all!

I’ve been meaning to write this post all week, but I got sick and have spent most of my free time in bed. Not what I planned for the week, but whatever :)

TVP was closed for Labor Day, so I scheduled a couple of people to close for me on Saturday, and I headed home for the weekend! I hadn’t been home since Mother’s Day, so I was thrilled to spend a few days with the family. When I got home, we went to Paris, Texas to eat at my favorite restaurant! It’s been a really long time since I’d been there, and I was having a serious craving!

After dinner, we drove over to the Eiffel Tower!

The Tower is so fun, and it’s absolutely beautiful at night!

Sunday was church, and then Jessica and Sweet P met us for lunch! Sweet P decided that she and I were going to see a movie, and Jessica was NOT coming with us. She was so much fun! I can’t believe she’s going to be 3 in just a few weeks!

Monday, we went to my grandparents’ house to cook out. My uncles and their families came too, and it was great to have the whole family together!

I’m not sure what to do with this…

It was a great weekend that definitely went by way too fast. As quick as it was, it really did my heart some good to be with my family.

How was your Labor Day weekend?

Social Sunday

Hey y’all!

Today’s questions are a random mix of fun!

1. What are you most looking forward to about fall?
Neely’s wedding! There are only a few weeks left, and I can’t wait to be with her when she marries the love of her life! It’s going to be such a wonderful time, and I can’t wait!
ash & neely

2. What is your favorite sports team?
I have a few :) I love the OU Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and OKC Thunder!

3. If you could go back to college, is there one thing you would change?
I don’t think so. College was such a great time in my life that I don’t think there’s anything I would do differently. I had great classes, great teachers, and I made some great friends!
College Pics

4. What was your favorite class you ever took? HS or college.
My college major was child development, so I had a lot of fun classes! My favorite was called “play, curriculum, and program development”. Basically it was about how children learn through play. Over the course of the semester, we had to each create our own curriculum unit that was SO MUCH FUN. Also, every day our teacher read us a fun kids’ book, and one day we went outside and played games :)

5. Reach into your purse. What is the first thing you grab?
A pen. I have about 27 pens in the bottom of my purse. Haha!

TVP Night with Chili’s at Home

*Thank you to Bellisio Foods for sponsoring this post and keeping my meals tasty and bold!*

Hey y’all!

One of the things I love most about working at The Vintage Pearl is the great friendship me and my coworkers have developed. Even though we work together all day long, we enjoy spending time together outside of work. These girls are awesome, and I love having them in my life! A few months ago, Ashton started hosting TVP girls’ nights at her house! We’ve watched movies, played games, and caught up on some fun TV shows!

For dinner, sometimes we order pizza, and sometimes we each just bring our own food. This week, I wanted to cook dinner for everyone so I picked up some Chili’s! Chili’s has created a new line of frozen meals you can cook at home! Chili’s At Home meals have the same bold flavor that Chili’s is known for, and we loved our meal!

Chili’s At Home can be found in major retailers like Walmart, Kroger, HEB, and many more. There are some great options, like Bacon Mac-n-Cheese, Chicken Fajita Rice Bowl, Cheesy Chicken Pasta Florentine, and Cajun-Style Chicken Alfredo, the meal we chose!

IMG_3298
I wasn’t sure how much food one bag would make, so I grabbed two just to be safe. I’m not the greatest cook, so I was a little nervous to be cooking for a group!

Here goes nothing!
thumbs up
After about ten minutes, we were ready to go! We crossed our fingers and grabbed some plates!
IMG_3319
It was surprisingly really good! For me, frozen food normally has a little bit of a weird taste and texture, especially chicken, but this chicken was tender with lots of flavor. The sauce and peppers gave it a very bold, spicy taste that was really good!

Cathy and Ashton liked it too!
IMG_3323
Overall, our Chili’s At Home meal was great! It cooked very quickly, which is great for people like us who get off work later in the evening and need a yummy, quick, at-home meal. The taste was bold and spicy, not bland like other frozen meals. It was definitely one of the best frozen meals I’ve ever eaten.

Have you tried a Chili’s At Home meal? Visit the Chili’s At Home site to see the other meal options and get a $1 off coupon. Which one would you try for a night with the girls?

The Sunday Social, Week 115

Social Sunday

Hey y’all!
I’m in Dallas this weekend for Neely’s bridal shower! We had a wonderful day celebrating their upcoming wedding! It was so much fun!
1. What is one item you wish you could splurge on right now?
I would really love another Louis Vuitton bag! I have a small one, but I would love a bigger bag. They are sooooo pretty!
2. If you had an entire weekend of no plans what would you do?
It’s so rare that it happens that I would probably lay around my apartment watching Netflix. Keeping it real :)
3. What is the next place you are visiting outside of your current city?
Dallas in October for Neely’s wedding! It’s so soon!
4. Are you a neat freak or a clutterbug?
I’m a clutterbug. I really don’t like cleaning. Like at all…
5. What is your favorite summer purchase?
I got a really cute kimono top from Hazel and Olive that I just LOVE! It’s hard not to wear it every day because I love it so much!

Social Sunday

Hey y’all!

Today’s questions are all about tv, songs, and movies!

1. One show you would love to see on Netflix that isn’t there?
Boy Meets World for sure! For years I’ve wanted to go back and watch the whole thing over from the beginning, and binge-watching it on Netflix sounds like a perfect way to spend a lazy Saturday, doesn’t it?

2. One song you wish they would play more on the radio?
I actually don’t listen to the radio very often, but when I do, I never hear enough Garth Brooks music!

3. Your favorite song to sing loudly in the car?
Oh my goodness, there’s so many. Right now, it would definitely be “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea, because I’m so fancy. You already know :)

4. What movie/tv show do you quote the most?
TV show: Grey’s Anatomy. No joke, I quote it almost every day. Movie: Mean Girls or Miss Congeniality.

5. One silly thing you do daily
Oh dear, there’s so many :) I get a route 44 ice water from Sonic every single day. Yes, I could just get water out of the tap at home, but Sonic ice is basically one of the greatest things ever, and even if I’m not having a Dr. Pepper, I have to have the ice. It’s kind of a problem…

Frozen in Summer

Hey y’all!

Friday night, my local Barnes and Noble store had a Frozen event! Ever since our little Princess Party a few weeks ago, I’ve wanted to take Little Girl out for a girls’ night, and this was the perfect event!

I picked her up from Joyce and took her to her house to get dressed. When I told her we were going to do something really fun, she asked, “Are we getting tattoos?” Um…not quite. :)
v

She was so excited to wear her Elsa dress and have me put her hair in an Elsa braid!

We stopped for a quick dinner at McDonald’s, her choice.

On our way there, she kept talking about what she would do or say when she saw Elsa and Anna (“I’ll probably cry.”), but I hadn’t heard if they were going to be there, so I tried to not get her hopes up too much. Thank goodness they were there!

When we got to the doors, there was a snocone truck giving away free snocones! She loved her strawberry one!

snocone

We were sent to the kids section because Elsa and Anna were posing for pictures with the kids! When we turned the corner by them, I got down next to Little Girl and pointing at the girls said, “Do you see who that is?” Her eyes got huge and she said, “Anna.” She was in awe. As we got closer, I heard her softly say, “Elsa’s here too.” She was completely starstruck. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever!

We got in the Anna line first. When it was her turn, she froze, so I pushed her up to Anna.

anna2

Anna was great with her, asking her questions about her name and her dress. Little Girl was so in awe that she didn’t know what to do. Anna finally turned her toward me so I could take a picture of them.

anna

So so cute!

After Anna was Elsa, her favorite. I could hear Elsa asking her questions, but I couldn’t hear her responses. I’m not sure if she was even able to form words because she was so starstruck. I could see her touching her braid, so I know she was trying to tell her about her braid, but she just couldn’t speak :)

elsa2

So much excitement. It was so much fun to see her like this!

elsa

When she was finished, she walked back to me with this goofy grin on her face! She was so happy!

excited

OH MY GOODNESS WE JUST MET ELSA AND ANNA!

Next, we got her face painted and colored a picture of Elsa. We sat and read a couple of books while waiting for the event to start. When it was time, we all gathered in one section of the store for Elsa, Anna, and Olaf to read to us and lead a sing along!

book

We sang “Let It Go” and “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman”. It was so cute to see so many little girls singing along to these fun songs!

What a fun night! I’m so happy I got to share it with my sweet Little Girl. After a really rough week, it was great to have some fun girl time. I sure do love her!

Firmoo Glasses Review

*This product was sent to me to review, but all opinions are my own.*

Hey y’all!

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Firmoo and asked to review a pair of eyeglasses!

I’ve struggled with my eyesight for most of my life. I got contacts when I was in fourth or fifth grade because my eyes were so bad. Back then it wasn’t very cool to wear glasses, so I begged for contacts instead. Because I also suffer from seasonal allergies, sometimes my eyes are red and itchy, so I can’t wear my contacts. When I was in eighth grade, I got glasses to wear on days my eyes were too bad to wear the contacts. My prescription has changed several times since then, but I’ve never gotten new lenses.

I was really excited to try a pair of glasses from Firmoo! The website was easy to use, and I was able to upload a picture of myself so I could “try on” all of the different lenses. With a little help from Tessa, these are the lenses I chose!
IMG_3292
They’ve been a lot of fun! It took awhile for me to adjust to new frames and a stronger prescription, so I could only wear them for a couple of hours at a time. Now that my eyes have adjusted, I really enjoy wearing them!

IMG_3293Are you interested in trying some new glasses? Firmoo has a special First Pair Free Program where you can try a new pair of glasses for free! Check it out here!

Today’s questions are some fun either/or questions!
1. Gum or mints?
I’m more of a mint person. I like gum too, but mints are better :)

Neither. I’ll go with Dr. Pepper!
3. Fruits or Veggies?
Fruits for sure! Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes…so so good!

I like both a lot, but I definitely watch a lot more tv than movies. Now with Netflix and Hulu, I have a lot more options for tv!
5. Candles or Diffusers?
Candles! My momma has a candle business called Okie Scents, and I love burning her yummy candles!
