Three Years

Today I’m celebrating three years with my agency.

It’s crazy for me to think it’s already been three years. So much has happened since I started this job.

My position changed four times. I’ve gone from maternity home manager to adoption caseworker to family support specialist to foster care coordinator. As crazy as it has been, I’ve gotten to see nearly every aspect of this agency, and it has made me love it even more.

I’ve also met some of the most wonderful people ever! We have some incredible adoptive and foster parents that I’ve been able to laugh with, cry with, celebrate with, and scream with. They have all blessed me in ways I can’t even describe, and their strength, dedication to the Lord, and hearts for children have been such an inspiration to me.

I have worked with some of the most precious girls who have made such difficult decisions, whether it be to parent their children or place them for adoption. Each and every one of them has touched my life in some way.

I am also so blessed to work with some amazing Christian women!

I love having great relationships with my coworkers! It makes it so much easier to do your work when you enjoy being around the people youw work with.

I’ve gotten to spend time with some stinkin’ cute babies. What else can I say about that?

Most importantly, I’ve seen God work in different situations. We may think we know what is going to happen or what is supposed to happen, but He has shown me time and time again that He is in control and He knows best. Even when I can’t see how a situation can be a good thing, He shows me why I should just let go of my control and trust Him!

As hard as this job can be sometimes, seeing the end result of a situation, an adoptive family finally getting the child they have longed for, a birth mother making an impossibly difficult decision to either parent or place a child for adoption, or a foster family making a small difference in a child’s life makes all of the drama, sleepless nights, and stress totally, completely worth it.

I’m truly blessed to have a wonderful job, and I can’t wait to see what this next year brings!

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”

Hey y’all!

At the end of yesterday’s post, I mentioned our special project we did at the new house. I wanted to share it with you today.

We picked out some of our favorite scriptures and we wrote them on the walls of our bedrooms.

Jeremiah 29:11-one of my absolute favorites!

It is very cool to know that even though the words will be covered up soon, we will always know they are there.

Psalm 37:4

We have also picked out scriptures for the rest of the house, many of them specific to each room. Momma and Daddy are planning to finish the rest sometime this week. I’ll try to share pictures of they take some!

Also, a big Happy Birthday to the best Daddy in the world! I love you Daddy!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!

Colby and I went home for the weekend to celebrate Momma and Daddy’s birthdays. Momma’s is today and Daddy’s is tomorrow.

We got in pretty late Friday night, so we crashed when we got home.

Saturday, we spent some time out at the new house. It is looking really good!

My Week in iPhone Pictures

Happy Friday y’all!
My goodness, I can’t even tell you how excited I am that this week is almost over. It has been ROUGH!
Here are a few pictures of my week.
I made a banana split cake. Didn’t let the cream cheese soften enough, so when I tried to mix it, this happened.
I got bored with my straight hair, so I’ve been curling it off and on the last couple of weeks. I kinda like it!
My kitty has been precious this week!
Wednesday night at church, Wade and I celebrated the end of the NFL lock-out! No, we didn’t plan this AT ALL!
I don’t have to like this broken toe thing, but I can make it a little bit more fun!
Chocolate mousse dessert shooter from Applebees
Yummers!
What are y’all up to this weekend? The bro and I are going home for our parents’ birthdays, and hopefully I’ll get a little time with the bestie!
Have a great weekend, my dears!
Giveaway ends today at noon! Go enter if you haven’t yet!

My First (Probably) Broken Bone

For you Twit followers, you probably read about my Monday night…um…incident.

I was making a cake for a dinner on Tuesday. While I was cleaning up the kitchen, Clumsy Ashley decided to make an appearance, and I tripped. As I was trying to catch my balance, my foot slammed into the wall.

Ouchie.

My immediate reaction was that my little toe was broken. Then I decided I was probably being dramatic, and it was just bruised or jammed.

I hobbled around yesterday, and my toe turned all colors of the rainbow. Seriously pretty stuff. Today, it looked like this.

So pretty!

I went to the doctor today to have it x-rayed. The doctor said there was a “suspicious area” on the x-ray that was “probably” a break but she couldn’t confirm 100% that it was a break. But probably was. Very clear stuff, let me tell ya!

She sent the x-rays off to be read by the radiologist, so in the mean time, we’re treating it like a break. I have to elevate, ice, and tape it.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can make this a little less ugly? Not sure I can rock the “taped up” look. :)

Honestly, as clumsy as I am, it’s a miracle that this hasn’t happened before now!

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway! It ends tomorrow!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all! Hope you all had a great weekend. I was sick over the weekend so I didn’t do much at all.

I snuggled with this cute little thing

Played around on Pinterest

Got REALLY ridiculously excited about tweets from Brian McNamara from Army Wives after I mentioned him in a tweet about Friday’s Boob Tube Babble post!

Ate food way inappropriate for the 106 degree weather

I think the umbrella gives it a nice summery touch, don’t you think? :)
