Thanksgiving Part 2

Every year, we take really pretty family pictures outside, usually in front of the old barn. This year, it was rainy, so the pictures were moved inside. Here’s the whole crew!

Thanksgiving Recap Part 1

I cannot believe tomorrow is Monday, y’all!

Vacation just FLEW by. I’m definitely not ready for Monday morning.

I’m going to try to do better about blogging this week. I’m starting with part 1 of my Thanksgiving recap. Part 1 of…maybe 4?

Every year, we go to my great-grandparents’ house in Super Small Town, Oklahoma. We are literally out in the middle of nowhere. No tv, no phone, no internet, and no cell service. Plus, it was rainy. We had 21 people and two dogs crammed into a teeny-tiny house.

But it was awesome!

My great-grandparents have both passed away, and spending the holiday together in their house makes us feel close to them. I imagine they were smiling down on us!

Today’s post is just random pictures from Thanksgiving Day.

I have to post a picture of the desserts!
Chocolate pecan pie, pecan pie, no bake cookies, Paula Deen brownies (life-changing!), and another pie…not sure what kind.

So so good! I ate entirely too much dessert!

Surprise Blogging Break?

Hello?

Anyone there?

Remember me?

I’m not entirely sure what happened, but it’s been eight days since I blogged. That hasn’t happened in…months!

I did have big blogging plans for these last eight days. 12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge, Thanksgiving stuff…

Guess I just needed a little vacation! :)

I have LOTS to write about, Thanksgiving stories, family pictures, Black Friday madness. I will try to get back to regular posting next week.

While I’m here, I do want to post about today’s topic for the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge!

Fun Friday!

Fun Fridays
It’s Friday, y’all!!
I’m super excited that the weekend is here! Just gotta get through a super busy day today.
I’m hoping for a pretty calm weekend this weekend. It’s been a crazy week and I’m definitely ready for some down time.

I’m definitely hoping to get my Christmas tree up this weekend!

The only other thing on my agenda for the weekend is heading up to Tulsa on Saturday night for this…

Teddie and I are going to go spend a little time in Tulsa and stop by to see Erin at the brand new Vintage Pearl store! It’s gonna be great! I’ve been reading the Vintage Pearl blog for awhile. They have the cutest jewelry, and they also partner with non-profits and Christian ministry groups. If you aren’t familiar with them, definitely check it out!

What are y’all doing this weekend?

Gross Eye Update

I went to the eye doc yesterday to get my gross eye checked out. Turns out, something, either my contacts or contact solution is causing severe irritation. :( Doc gave me drops, and I have to go back in a week. He also said no contacts for a week. That means, a week of this…

My glasses are like 10 years old. I’ve never had the prescription changed. I can’t see with or without them. Driving is super fun.

It’s gonna be a great week. I can already tell.

But, hey, he won! :)
Congratulations, Daddy! But next time, please don’t block with your face!

What I’m Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y’all! We’re halfway to Friday! Here’s what I’m loving this week!

WILW

I’m loving that I only have five (counting today) working days until I’m off for Thanksgiving! I’m definitely needing a break from work and a chance to get out of OKC for a few days. I’m excited to see all of the family too! Pine Creek Thanksgiving 2010 cannot come fast enough!

I’m loving that Bristol & Mark are in the DWTS finale!

bristol & mark
I’m sure that a lot of people are upset that Brandy is gone because she was the better dancer, but I just love Bristol & Mark! I don’t think they will win, but I’m excited they have a chance to be in the finale.

I’m loving my adorable new gloves!

Those plus peppermint hot chocolates are the ONLY things making this cold weather bearable.

I’m loving these blog awards from two sweet bloggers!

Top 2 Tuesday-Favorite Jobs

Today’s Top 2 Tuesday is favorite jobs you’ve had.
1. Adoption agency
By far, this is the most amazing job I’ve ever had. It is incredible to be able to help women who are in difficult, unplanned situations. I also love being able to help families that are struggling with infertility to create their families. Our agency also has a contract foster care program, and I love getting to work with our precious foster families and spend time with sweet kiddos!
2. Preschool substitute
When I was in college, I worked as a substitute at the preschool at my church. I worked there for three years, and it was such a great job! It was only two days a week, so I could easily work my school schedule around it, and since I was a substitute, I got to know all of the children in the whole school. There was always a teacher that needed to be off, so I got to work almost every day. I made some great relationships with teachers, kids, and parents, and even ended up with some babysitting jobs! It’s crazy now, because some of the first kids I had are in 3rd grade! Makes me feel old!

Kind of a Weekend Update

Hello dears! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and a great Monday. It’s gonna be a weird week, I can already tell. I’m going to apologize now for probably being a bit absent this week. I’m definitely ready for Thanksgiving so that I can have a little bit of a break, both physically and mentally.

Before I get into my weekend update, I want to thank all of you for the prayers and the sweet comments on my post about Tracy and her babies. Things are still not great, and they would greatly appreciate your continued prayers.

Alrighty, Friday evening, I went up to the hospital and spent a little bit of time with Tracy. When I got home, I was super exhausted from a crazy day, so I curled up in bed with my kitty and spent the rest of the evening with Ricky Bobby.

Shake-n-Bake!
Saturday, I laid in my bed pretty much all day. I’ve been feeling pretty yucky for the last couple of weeks, and it was great to just relax and do nothing. Late in the afternoon, I went to Teddie’s and ate dinner and watched part of the OU game. When Reed’s friends came over, Teddie and I went to my adoptive family’s house to get away from the goofy boys at her house. Before I left, Teddie’s house, she gave me a sack, and inside was this…
These apparently are my Christmas and birthday gifts!
She and Reed are moving out of their home this week, and she was afraid she would misplace them, so she sent them with me! Now, I’ve got to restrain myself from opening them until December and February!
Sunday was church then an afternoon of football at my adoptive family’s house. We got to watch most of the awesome Cowboys game!
Today at work, I was running around like a crazy person at appointment after appointment. Tomorrow is looking like it’s going to be the same way. I am also going to the doctor tomorrow because my eye currently looks like this:
Beautiful, isn’t it?
I don’t know why the picture is flipped…sigh.
*Also, tonight is the last night to vote in the Mommy Blog Awards on the Bump! If you haven’t voted yet, head on over here and vote for Kristin & Megan for Fashion Blog and Kelly for Baby Journal and Stay-at-home-mom! Hurry! The polls close at midnight tonight!*
Have a great week!

Prayers Needed!

In the few months that I have been blogging, I have been amazed at how the blogging community rallies around people in need of prayers. I’m asking all of you to do that now!

If you follow me on the twit, you may have seen my tweet asking for prayers for a friend. I got permission tonight to talk about that situation, and I wanted to bring it before all of you. Tracy, my coworker and precious friend, is 24 weeks pregnant with twins. Last night, she went into preterm labor. Her labor has stopped for now, and she is in the hospital, possibly until the babies come. Please keep Tracy, her husband Matt, and their sweet babies in your prayers. I would greatly appreciate it, and Tracy and Matt would as well!
