Weekend Update

Hey y’all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was pretty busy, and I’m exhausted. Hoping I can get some rest tonight before a busy week this week.

Friday night, I had a nice calm evening at home. I sat at my keyboard for almost three hours playing. I learned “Love Me Tender” and started working on “One Song Glory” from Rent. Playing is turning out to be a pretty good stress reliever for me. I’m hoping to make more time for it during the week.

Saturday, I got up early and went to my church. I am teaching a class of three year olds beginning Wednesday night, so I went to the work day so I could familiarize myself with the materials as well as the new children’s wing of the church. I was pretty excited when I walked into my room and saw that it is pink!

Even the trashcan is pink!

After I left church, I went to Mardel. I got a gift card for my birthday, and they had tons of books on sale. I ended up getting seven books, like I really need more to add to my stack!

I laid in my bed for awhile and started reading LA Candy.

Caroline, Lindsey, and several other bloggers have been talking about these books for awhile, and I finally had time to sit down and read this one. Loved it! Have y’all read these?

Later in the afternoon, Joyce called and said that our LTC Short Film group was filming at the church building. Found out later that they were at the church while I was there earlier that morning! I got there in time to watch several of the last scenes and commercials. They did a spoof of Undercover Boss, and I think their film is going to be pretty cute!

Today was church, then a nap, phone chat with Neely, and then back to church for my LTC Drama practice. My kiddos have a super cute skit, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together!

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

Here’s what I’m loving this week!

I’m loving that Monday night Neely and I booked our plane tickets to go visit Meghan!

There are just no words to describe how excited I am for my summer trips!

I’m loving Something Borrowed!
SOBO
I’m five chapters in now, and I’m so terribly hooked! If I wasn’t working today, I’d be reading! I’m dying to get through it, and can’t wait to see the movie! I wanna watch the trailer, but will it ruin anything for me?

I’m loving these cute bookmark pens from Jamie!

Now that I’m finally getting some time to read, I’m finally getting to use them. I just love them! They have cute quotes about love on them, and the one I’m using right now says “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”

I’m loving that I finally finished a report yesterday that I’ve been working on for what seems like forever! Such a relief to have that stress gone!

And, I’m loving this song!

I’m like obsessed with this song. I don’t know why, but I really love it!

What are you loving this week? Link up your loves with Jamie!

Weekend Update

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I’m writing this (Sunday night) watching and tweeting the Oscars. Did you watch?

Friday was a super busy day, and because I’ve worked overtime a lot the last couple of weeks, I got to take a little bit of time off on Friday afternoon. I crashed! I was laying in my bed by 4 pm, and I pretty much stayed there until about 2 pm Saturday afternoon.

After I finally drug myself out of bed, I went to hang out with Joyce and Wade. Since I met them 5 1/2 years ago, Joyce has made it her mission to introduce me to all of her favorite movies, most of them from the ‘80s or early ‘90s.

We watched the majority of Nothing in Common.

When I talked to Joyce early in the afternoon, she was watching Legal Eagles. We both think Robert Redford is super hot, so when after Nothing in Common was over, she pulled out her VHS and we watched it!

legal eaglesI just looove Robert Redford!

After that one, we watched Cocktail.

Joyce described this one to me as Coyote Ugly without the singing and dancing girls. I am definitely not a Tom Cruise fan, but I did like this movie!

Have y’all watched any of these?

Sunday was a great day at church, along with a TJ Maxx and Barnes & Noble trip, a little bit of keyboard practicing, LTC with my kiddos, then Oscar watching and blogging. I was glad to finally get to catch up on everyone. I’ve been a terrible commenter these last few weeks, but I promise I’m reading!

It was really nice to have a pretty calm weekend after all of the busyness of the last few weeks. I’m really hoping for a few more!

What did y’all do this weekend?

In Christ Alone

This morning in church, we sang my absolute favorite song! It has the most beautiful, powerful lyrics. It has been playing over and over in my head all day, so I thought I’d share it here.

“In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand”

Hope you all are having a great Sunday!

Our theme was Dr. Seuss! His books are some of my favorites. We also had everyone bring a book along with their gift to help start the babies’ library. She got so many cute books!
