Boob Tube Babble: Where We Left Off

Boob Tube Babble
Hey y’all!

Time for our weekly TV talk!

One of the best parts of fall to me is all of my favorite shows starting their new seasons!

At the end of last season, Kate was shot at Captain Montgomery’s funeral! The show ended with Castle telling Kate that he loves her. Obviously, she’s going to survive, and I’m anxious to see how Castle’s declaration affects their relationship.
After Alex told on Meredith for tampering with the Alzheimer’s clinical trial, he was passed over for Chief Resident, and it was given to April. Derek and Meredith’s adopted daughter Zola was released from the hospital, but Derek left Meredith because of what she did to the trial. Owen kicked Cristina out after she told him she is aborting the baby.
The medical board was trying to shut down Oceanside Wellness. Addison started to leave the country with Benjamin Bratt, but decided to go back, disband the practice, and start a new one. Naomi got engaged to Fife and decided to adopt Betsy, and they left to move to New York. Violet left to go on a book tour, and Pete collapsed!
Y’all know I love my music shows, and I LOVE acapella music, so I am a huge fan of The Sing-Off! Can’t wait to see the new groups! Plus, I love any excuse to watch Nick Lachey :)
Every season I say I’m not going to watch, but every season I get sucked in. You can read my thoughts on the new cast here.
What shows are you ready to see?

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!
Can’t believe we’re already back to another Monday! I was on the go the whole weekend so I feel like I didn’t get much of a break.
Friday night, Colby and I picked up a few kids and headed out to Joyce and Wade’s house for the kids’ fantasty football draft. It wasn’t quite as intense as the adults’, but it was fun to watch.
The kids had a little pre-draft football game.
Aspen was Colby’s helper…or so she thought!

I sat and caught up on blogs while the kids picked their teams.

M skyped in from Japan
W represented all of her teams. First, the Minnesota Vikings.
Then, Indianapolis Colts
Even though the draft was for NFL, she can’t forget about her Sooners!

Me and Joyce

I just love these girls so much!
Saturday was crazy! We had our last day of foster parent training. I’m so glad to finally be able to move forward with these awesome new families.
After training, I placed a new foster baby with one of our families. It’s always exciting when we get someone new!
Saturday afternoon, Colby and I went with Joyce, Wade, Kazuki, and Josh to Okarche, Oklahoma, to Eischen’s for fried chicken. It was good stuff! Kazuki and Josh are here from Japan, so we have been trying to take them to some of our favorite places.
Kazuki is willing to try any food we put in front of him. The one thing he doesn’t like? Sweet pickles. Seriously.
Saturday night, Wade and Kazuki had a soccer game. They play in an indoor soccer league.
It was Kazuki’s first time to play here, and he scored two of the four goals!
Sunday was church, then an afternoon nap. I also went to a work event, but left early because of a migraine. I’m so done with these migraines that hang on for days!
This week is going to be super crazy, with late nights at work, plus preparing for Jessica’s baby shower on Saturday. Can’t wait to share pictures from that with all of you!
Hope y’all have a great Monday!

We’ll Always Remember

Ten years ago today, I was a sophomore in high school. I was sitting in a classroom with my flag team. I don’t remember why we were in a classroom and weren’t out at the football field, practicing for our Friday night football game. I was also editor of the school newspaper, and my flag coach was our newspaper supervisor. Since we were just sitting in the classroom, she let me on the computer to work on several things for the paper. I checked my email, and after I signed out, a news headline came up on MSN. It said that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I called my teacher over to see it, and after reading it, she immediately turned on the television. By the time we found a channel covering the news, the plane had already hit the second tower.
I remember staring at the TV, just sitting in disbelief. By that time, everyone was sure that it was a terrorist attack. I thought back to the Oklahoma City bombing, and I wondered why this was happening again.
There were so many different emotions in that classroom. I remember one girl whose mom called up to the school and said she was on her way to pick her up because she just knew the world was ending. Not everyone had that dramatic of a reaction. I think the most common thing running through eveyone’s minds was ‘why?’
Over the rest of that day and on through the rest of the week, we were all glued to the TV, watching the coverage, trying to make sense of this horrible thing. I remember a feeling of helplessness and realizing there was nothing I could do but pray.
I can’t remember exactly, but either that Friday or the Friday after, we had our football homecoming. I remember it being a bittersweet event. I remember how do we have fun while so many people in our nation are hurting? I had a really pretty homecoming mum that was made my freshman year. I decided the year I got it that every year I would add something to the flower part of it, something of significance. Pulling it out to get ready for that homecoming game, Momma and I added a small American flag. It is still there today, and every year that I wore it, that flag was a reminder of that day and the victims of that terrible attack.
I remember admiring the strength of President Bush and of Mayor Giuliani. I remember the American pride that seemed to sweep the nation in the days and weeks after. Everyone seemed to come together, regardless of age, race, or political affiliation. We were all just Americans.
I could go on and on about my feelings and memories about September 11, 2001. Instead, I’ll end here with one of my favorite pictures to come out of that day. I love it, but it brings tears to my eyes every single time I see it. I think it symbolizes the strength of our nation.

Boob Tube Babble: Bach Pad Drama

Boob Tube Babble
Hey y’all!

It’s time for our weekly TV talk!

I was planning on waiting until next week to talk about Bachelor Pad since the finale is Monday, but I didn’t think I could let this newest bit of information go without some sort of comment. Have you seen this?
Holly & Blake are engaged!
Can you believe this? Because I’m shocked!
Blake seemed fine on Ashley’s season, but he seemed to be a real jerk on Bachelor Pad. I thought for sure that Holly would forget about him once he was eliminated, and I HOPED she and Michael would get back together.
I mean, really. Look how cute they are! Plus, Michael seems like such a great guy, and I think he really loves her.
What do y’all think?
