The Sunday Social, Week 17

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Today is week 17 of The Sunday Social! Can you believe it?

These questions are all about our childhoods!

1. What do you miss most about being a kid?
Not having to pay rent! No seriously, I miss being at home with my family. I miss living close to my friends. I miss my jump rope team, and I miss all of the cool things we got to do together!

2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it?

A lot of friends have always called me Ash, but my momma and daddy always called me Ladybug. I think that’s why I love them so much!

3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess?
I don’t really remember much about what we did at recess. I think me and my friends just sat around chatting. We had a great time!

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be co-anchor of the Today Show!

5. What was your favorite toy?

I had LOTS of Barbies! They were definitely my favorite things to play with!

6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about?

Oh goodness, there are so many. I have always been teased for my blonde moments. I’m not going to mention them because I would only embarrass myself. Sorry y’all! :)

Hana Pro Flat Iron Review

Hey y’all!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Misikko and was asked to review a Hana Pro flat iron! After trying out Neely’s a few weeks ago, I definitely wanted to try one of my own!

My hair has just enough wave in it that I can’t just blow dry it and go.
Believe it or not, it takes work to look this good :)

I got a very fun package from Misikko! They sent the flat iron with lots of other goodies!

I absolutely LOVE my Hana Pro! It is by far the best flat iron I’ve ever used, and believe me, I’ve used a lot! It has definitely decreased the amount of time it takes me to get ready in the mornings. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on my hair since I started using it too!
It’s practically a miracle worker!

If you’re interested in Misikko products, check out their flat irons and hair dryers here!

*This product was sent to me to review. All opinions are my own.

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Friday after work, I met Joyce, Little Miss, and Little Girl at Oklahoma Christian to watch Joyce’s niece Jonna and her roommate Mahya perform during Freshman Fanfare.
They were so cute! The little girls had a wonderful time. Little Miss started copying the dances and doing the moves sitting on Joyce’s lap. It was precious!
These girls are so precious!

After the show, we all went to Braum’s for ice cream!
Sorry for the weird-shaped pics! Had to crop out the little girls’ faces :)

We had so much fun just hanging out and having some girl time. We don’t get to do that very often, so I really enjoyed it! These girls are just super sweet!

Saturday, I worked at the shop in the morning, and then I headed to Tulsa to hang out at the shop there! I haven’t been back up there since my training ended in March, so I LOVED being back there! I got to spend lots of great time with Angela! She has been so wonderful, and I couldn’t do what I do without her!

Sunday was church, lunch with Joyce, the Littles, and the college kids, and then a loooong afternoon nap!

How was your weekend?

I’m SO excited for Thanksgiving with the fam! I also can’t wait to celebrate the first birthday of this little princess in just a few weeks!

4. What are your hopes for your blog?
I would love to see it continue to grow, and I want to continue to meet wonderful friends!

I do! I love living here! I’m not opposed to leaving, but I really love OKC!

Blast from the Past

Hey y’all!

Sunday night, I spent a couple of hours watching old music videos on YouTube, and I thought I’d share a few with y’all. I wish pop music was as good as it used to be!

“It’s Gonna Be Me”-*NSYNC
“Lucky”-Britney Spears
“Genie in a Bottle”-Christina Aguilera
“Where You Are”-Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey
“The Hardest Thing”-98 Degrees
“Walk Me Home”-Mandy Moore

And…I guess I really have to include one of these…
“I Want It That Way”-Backstreet Boys

Have a great Tuesday!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Big thanks to everyone that linked up with Neely and me for Sunday Social yesterday! We love that so many of y’all love it!

Friday evening, I ended up meeting Joyce at Target to pick up a few things I needed for work and to get some new clothes for her Littles. This week got really cold really fast, and we don’t have a lot of warm clothes for the new kiddos! After we shopped, I went with her to pick up Little Miss and Little Bit for the weekend. I’m so glad I got to spend a few minutes with those sweet girls. I just adore them!

Saturday was the second anniversary of The Vintage Pearl’s Tulsa store! We had a huge sale at my shop to celebrate! Our store was super busy all day long. There were lots of items on sale, and we also debuted a bunch of new pieces! I love them all! We were exhausted by the end of the day, but we had a great time!
Annie & me! She is too precious! She was also the winner of a little competition we had last week :)

Niesha and Angela came down from Tulsa to help out! I loved getting to hang out with them for the day! They are amazing girls!

I spent all day yesterday in bed with a migraine, but I’m hoping today is much better!

Have a happy Monday!

The Sunday Social, Week 15

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Time for another Sunday Social!

1. What are 3 items you can’t live without on a daily basis (water, food, shelter, and clothes don’t count)
My iPhone, my contacts (I’m practically blind!), and my flat iron :)

2. What is your all time favorite book? Why?
Karen Kingsbury’s Redemption. I’m not really sure why! Maybe because it is the first book of hers that I read, and it was the first introduction to my favorite characters.
Or, maybe it’s because it’s the one she signed when I met her?? :)

3. What is something you’d like to accomplish before the end of 2012?
I seriously want to learn how to sew! It’s on my goals list, but so far I haven’t had time for someone to teach me! Maybe soon…

4. If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be?
Oh goodness, I don’t know! 18 was a great year, 19 was a great year…probably any year but 25. Other than getting hired at The Vintage Pearl, 25 wasn’t so good…

5. What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them?
Sorry y’all, I’m writing at the end of a VERY long day at work, so I’ve got nothing for this one!

Your turn! Write up a post, grab our button, and link it up with Neely and me!

Its Ok Thursdays

Hey y’all!

Linking up with Neely and Amber again today!

It’s Ok…

…to cry watching X-Factor. I was brokenhearted for contestant Don Philip, who recorded a song with Britney on her first album. Y’all remember “I Will Still Love You” right?
…to think Britney Spears is the best thing to happen to reality TV since Simon Cowell himself.
Seriously love seeing Britney looking so healthy and happy!
…to stalk the UPS website when you know you’re getting a package.
…to be seriously shocked when someone doesn’t understand a Mean Girls reference.
Neely, can I get an Amen?
…to dread winter coming.
…and, to wish that Blissdom wasn’t six months away! I’m ready to see my friends!!
What’s Ok with you this week? Link up with Neely and Amber!

Weekend Update

Hey y’all!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I know I’m a day behind, but Sunday night I was just waaaaay too tired to blog!

Friday evening, I went to hang out with Tyler for a bit. We normally hang out at my apartment, so it was a nice to change to get to hang out at his house! We had a great evening!

Saturday, I worked, and I had planned to go watch the OU game with the group, but at the last minute, I decided to go take dinner to Joyce instead. She was home alone with all five of the Littles, so I picked up Chili’s for dinner and went to her house to play! After the kiddos went to bed, we at our dinner and watched Mamma Mia, one of our favorites!
It’s been over a year since we’ve had a girly movie/Chili’s night, so we were definitely overdue. It was so wonderful to just have some grown-up friend time!

Sunday, Tyler came up to go to church with me, and then we met Momma and Daddy at a restaurant half way in between us to have lunch! We had a really good visit. It was fun for my parents to meet Tyler, and I’ve missed them so much. It was nice to see them, even if it was for a few minutes!
The fam

Our wonderful daddy

The best momma ever!

Tyler and me!

My cute little bro

Sunday evening, we made it back just in time for church, and then we went back to Joyce and Wade’s house. We had dinner and watched football for a bit. When Tyler left, I headed for the game room to watch the season (series?) finale of Army Wives.
I know a few of you watched, but in case you haven’t, I won’t ruin it. I will say that it was the WORST FINALE EVER! There has to be another season because they can’t let it end that way! The ONLY thing good about it was having JR Martinez as a special guest!
He’s pretty fabulous!

Hope y’all have a great week!

The Sunday Social, Week 14

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Time for another Sunday Social!

Today we’re going back to the beginning and giving everyone the chance to introduce yourself and your blog!
1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it?
My blog is called Ashley’s Carnival Ride, and it comes from my favorite line in Carrie Underwood’s “Wheel of the World”. I think it is a great way to look at the journey of life!

2. What do you love the most about blogging?
I absolutely love the friendships I’ve made! I never thought I’d meet some of my best friends through the blogging community, but I’m so thankful for them!

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you’ve written?

4. What is something you’d want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?
My advice would be to just be you! Write about what you want to write about, and don’t worry about the numbers. Blog for yourself! You’ll be much happier!

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you’ve had?
Be a little bit guarded. Some people aren’t quite what they seem. Most people are, but not all!

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.
Ok, first, you need to be following my fabulous cohost and bff Neely, duh :)

A Complete Waste of Makeup
My precious real-life turned bloggy friend Regina!

Live Delightfully
One of my blogging heroes, Angie Smith. She’s such an amazing person!
