It’s My Birthday!

Hey y’all!
Yep, today is the day! 28…feels so weird typing that number. I seriously don’t feel that old, and when people ask me how old I am, the first number that usually comes to mind is 23 :)
We met Momma and Daddy halfway yesterday to eat lunch and have a little early birthday celebration! More pics to come, but it was nice to get to celebrate a little with them. Oh, and Momma made my favorite cheesecake!!
Not much on the agenda for today. Work (of course), and then Teddie and I are going to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate both of our birthdays for the first time in about three years. Have I mentioned that Teddie is home?? More info on that later, but you can’t even imagine my excitement :) Best birthday present ever!

Hey y’all!

I promise I will get back to regular blogging soon! Things have been a little crazy, and I’ve been sucked in to watching the Olympics, so I’m not getting anything done! Seriously, the Olympics are ruining my life :)

1. What are your favorite things to do on a lazy day?
I love laying in my bed watching old episodes of Army Wives, Grey’s Anatomy, or Private Practice, or finding new movies to watch on Netflix! 

2. What is your tv guilty pleasure?
The Bachelor :) Yes, it’s terrible, but it’s just so much fun!

3. What is your favorite road trip music?
I love blasting ’90s teenybopper music, like *NSYNC, Britney, Christina, Jessica, Mandy, BSB, fun stuff like that :)

4. What are your favorite magazines or books to read by the pool or laying around?
People is my absolute favorite! I love Glamour too. For books, Karen Kingsbury is my favorite author, so I love reading her books over and over. 

5. What is your favorite snack?
Dark chocolate M&Ms are THE BEST!

1. What is your favorite thing to watch on a girls night?
I love fun girly movies like Mean Girls, Easy A, Mamma Mia, and Dirty Dancing!

2. What is your favorite thing to watch on your day off?
I like watching old TV shows on Netflix like Toddlers and Tiaras :)
3. What is your favorite thing to watch when you’re sick?
I like watching old episodes of Army Wives and Private Practice.
4. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
FROZEN! I’ve seen it three times :) It’s so good!

5. What are your top three favorite movies or tv shows?
Movies are Miss Congeniality, Under the Tuscan Sun, and A Walk to Remember. TV shows (at the moment) Scandal, Nashville, and The Voice

My 4th Blogoversary!

Hey y’all!
Four years ago today, I started a blog.
It started as a fun little hobby, it it turned into more, so much more than I could ever explain. It turned into friendships, community, a creative outlet, and a support system that I can’t imagine not having. Over the last year, I’ve met and spent time with some amazing people who have taught me a lot about blogging and about life.

Thanks for reading, for following, for commenting, for everything. It’s been a great four years. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

I LOVE award shows, and the Grammy’s is always one of my favorites! Every year, I post my predictions for a few of the top categories. Fingers crossed I’m right this year!

“Royals” has been really popular, but there hasn’t been a bigger song this year than “Blurred Lines”. I will be shocked if it doesn’t win this category.

“Your Side of the Bed” is one of the best songs of the year, in my opinion. I feel like until the last couple of years, LBT hasn’t gotten the recognition they deserve, and I hope the voters will agree with me!

Taylor ALWAYS wins album of the year when she’s nominated, but Kacey has received a lot of praise for this album. I have only heard a couple of songs from it, but from what I hear about her, she just might be the favorite for this category.

Hey y’all!

Today’s questions are all about your favorite beauty products!

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I think I was a freshman or sophomore in high school.

2. What are your top 3 favorite beauty products?
I love my Hana Pro flat iron, Smashbox Soft Lights highlighting powder, and Mary Kay mascara.

3. What is one makeup product you don’t leave home without?
Mascara. Always. Even if I’m just running to Sonic for a drink :)

4. What is your daily beauty routine?
Oh, it’s nothing special! A little foundation, a little blush, eyeliner on my bottom lashes, and a little mascara. For my hair, I run a flat iron through it and spray a little hairspray :)

5. What is your favorite hair/makeup product you’ve discovered in the last year?
I don’t actually own one yet, but a few months ago I had my hair curled with a curling wand. I LOVED it!
I got it done early in the morning, and it stayed pretty and curly all day long! It was awesome!

It’s been awhile since we had a little music chat around here, so I wanted to share what’s on my playlist right now!
“You Sound Good to Me”-Lucy Hale
I’ve been a Lucy fan since she was a teenager competing on American Juniors! She has a fantastic voice, and I’m excited that she’s releasing new music!
“Cannonball”-Lea Michele
I love Lea, and I’m glad she is FINALLY releasing an album! She has one of the best voices I think I’ve ever heard.
“Counting Stars”-Meghan Linsey
I love the original version by One Republic, but Meghan Linsey (from the group Steel Magnolia) might have the better version, at least for me. 
“And The Radio Played”-Lady Antebellum
I love everything about this song. I love Lady A, and I love the mentions of the songs from the 80s, 90s, and now. Such a fun song!
“Let Her Go”-Jasmine Thompson
This song was playing on the *NSYNC Holiday Pandora station during Christmas. Not sure why it was there, but I fell in love with it!
“Let It Go”-’Idina Menzel (from Frozen)
You don’t get to laugh at me for this. Disney movie or not, this song is pretty great! Idina Menzel is one of the best ever, and I’ve been listening to this song on repeat since I saw Frozen for the second time!

Hey y’all!

Every few months, Neely and I like to take a week of Sunday Social to let all of the participants introduce themselves! We’ve heard so many great stories of people making new friends through Sunday Social, and since we have new people every week, we like to give everyone a chance to say hi!

1. What is the name of your blog? How long have you been blogging?
My blog is Ashley Lately, and I will be celebrating my 4th blogoversary in a couple of weeks! 

2. Why do you blog?
I blog because I love to write! I love having my own little space to say whatever I want :) I also blog because I get to meet really cool people, and I’ve made some really great friends!

3. What is the first blog you ever followed?
I’m pretty sure Kelly’s Korner was my first.

4. What is your favorite post you wrote in 2013?
The post I enjoyed writing the most was “Happy Adoption Day!”, written about my friends’ adoption of two of their kiddos. It was such a special day to be a part of, and I loved getting to finally show the kids’ sweet faces :)

5. What are your blogging goals for 2014?
I want to get back to more consistent blogging! My blogging really slowed down in 2013, so I want to do better this year. I also want to read more blogs and deepen connections with my blog friends!

6. Top 3 favorite blogs to follow?
If you’re not reading A Complete Waste of Makeup, written by my fabulous cohost Neely, you should be!
