50 Years On The Road

Hey y’all!
This past Sunday, my church celebrated it’s 50th anniversary!
We had a special service on Sunday to celebrate 50 years as a church family! It was really exciting to get to be a part of such a special event!
We have such a large church that we typically have two services on Sundays because our auditorium has a hard time holding all of our members, but this week we had a combined service! We managed to squeeze everyone in!
This was just a little over half of our auditorium! Sooo many people!
Several of the guys on our ministry staff spoke.
We also heard from our four most recent pulpit ministers! It was really neat to get to see all four of them speak on the same day!
We had a potluck lunch after our service! In the nine years I’ve been here, I don’t think we’ve ever had a potluck lunch! Because we are such a big congregation, it’s difficult, but we managed to pull it together! I intended to take pictures during lunch, but we were helping with the Littles, and naptime meltdowns were starting early :)
It was nice to get to hear about all of the wonderful ministries that my church has been a part of through the years. We heard about mission works, prison ministry, and children’s ministry, among other things. I’ve been helping out in the children’s ministry for a few years as a Bible class teacher, and I love it! I am so blessed to be a part of such an amazing church family!

OK Tornado Relief Concert…or, the Greatest Day of my Life!

Hey y’all!
I was one of the lucky few people to get tickets to Toby Keith’s Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert! When Garth Brooks was announced as a performer, I KNEW I had to be there!
I tried my best to limit the number of pictures, but it was so hard to narrow them down!
Here we go!
My sweet friend Lori went with me! She loves country music as much as I do, and we had a fabulous time!
GAC’s Storme Warren was our host for the day! Really cool to get to see him!
Mel Tillis-He is an Oklahoman and such a legend in country music, and it was really special to get to see him perform!
Kellie Coffey-She grew up in Moore, Oklahoma, and she lives there now. She was actually at home in her shelter during the terrible tornado.
Bob Stoops, coach of the OU Sooners, is a good friend of Toby’s, and he came out to introduce Garth Brooks!
GARTH! He opened the show with “Rodeo”!
“Two of a Kind, Workin’ on a Full House”
“Papa Loved Mama”
His lovely wife Trisha Yearwood joined him for “In Another’s Eyes”!
Trisha stayed and performed “She’s in Love with the Boy” and “How Do I Live”!
They are so cute :)
He also played “Callin’ Baton Rouge”, “The Thunder Rolls” long version, and “Friends in Low Places” long version!
He closed his set with “The Dance”. It is my favorite song, and I definitely got emotional watching him sing it. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to get to see him perform live, and it was everything I hoped it would be and more!
John Anderson
Barry Switzer, former coach of the OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys, introduced Willie Nelson!
Willie Nelson
Toby joined him to sing “Beer for my Horses”, and he stayed around to sing backup on the rest of Willie’s songs.
Sammy Hagar
Ronnie Dunn
“…peace, love, and country music…”
Carrie Underwood performed via satellite from The Grand Ole Opry!
Wade Hayes-I used to listen to him back in the ’90s, and I had no idea he is from Oklahoma! He performed his song “Old Enough to Know Better”, and it was really cool to get to see him!
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin introduced Toby Keith
Toby!
Toby’s daughter Krystal performed a song from her upcoming album. She’s good, y’all!
Toby put together a fantastic show! I said it before about Blake Shelton, but I’ll say it again now about Toby Keith: I love how much he loves Oklahoma! Toby still lives in Moore and has raised his family there. He said he would never live anywhere other than Oklahoma!
It was such a long day of great music! The concert started at 3pm, and it was close to 11pm when we left. Time passed quickly because the show was so good. It was hot, but it was so worth it!

The Pink Pistol

Hey y’all!
On July 5th, Momma and I headed over to Tishomingo, Oklahoma, to The Pink Pistol, a shop owned by Miranda Lambert!
It’s only been open a few months, and we have been DYING to go over and see it!
Before we went, we dropped my cousin K off with her dad. She had spent a few days with my grandparents, and her hometown was on our way.
She brought a buddy with her. He was a little scary :)
We stopped for a snack break and saw this. I couldn’t help it. I had to take a picture.
Yeah, that’s tape on her glasses…

The Pink Pistol!

We had to wait outside in line for awhile. The store was super busy that day, but fortunately we didn’t have to wait to long!

I LOVE this pink piano! I really wanted to take it home with me!

This pink sparkly guitar was so fun!

There is an old soda fountain in there, so we got drinks while we were waiting!

They came in adorable pink cups!

This fun sign was in the bathroom…

…and this fun sign was on the outside of the bathroom door! So cute!
We both got Healin’ in the Heartland tshirts (proceeds go to Oklahoma tornado relief) and coffee mugs! I also got a cute Pink Pistol tshirt.
We had such a fun time! It was nice to take a fun little roadtrip with my momma!

Fun on the 4th

Hey y’all!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!
I took a couple of days off work, and I went home to see my family for the first time since January. It had been waaaay too long, and it was wonderful to get to spend a few days at home.
I drove down Thursday morning, and we went out to my grandparents house to have a cookout for lunch.
Momma and me!
Me and my grandparents

My cousin K was staying with my grandparents for a few days! We had a lot of fun!
She likes taking funny pictures about as much as we do :)

Carol Ann, Kenny, and Aunt Betty stopped by!

Yeah, I used a Disney princess placemat at lunch. Don’t judge me.

Oreo just hangin’ out

Shredded wheat ice cream! I know, it sounds weird, but it’s amazing. I was super bummed that I missed out on it last year, so this year I made sure to have a little extra :)

My bestie, my Sweet P, and me!

Sweet P had so much fun with the sparklers!

That is pure happiness on that sweet little girl’s face

K and N had a little too much fun. They were trying very hard to set the grass on fire!
It was a great night! After spending last 4th of July away from my family, it was nice to get to be back with everyone and to carry on the traditions we’ve had for years. Such a fun holiday!

I have been on two really awesome trips! In 2009, my Momma, Mom-mom, and I went to Memphis and Nashville! In 2011, Neely and I went to visit Meghan in Chicago! Both trips were incredible  and I can’t wait to go back to both places!

2. What is your best idea for a girls weekend trip?
I love having girls weekends in Dallas! There’s lots of fun things to do, and a lot of my favorite people are there :)

3. What is your best idea for a couples trip?
Got nothing for this one!

4. What is the best vacation on the cheap?
I enjoy going home to visit my family. Even though we live in the same state, it’s so hard for me to get away to take a trip home, so I really cherish the time I do get to go, and I consider it a vacation for sure!

5. What is the place you most want to visit?
I am dying to visit Europe! I want to go to Paris, London, and several places in Italy!

Neely, New Kids, and 98 Degrees (and Boyz II Men!)

Hey y’all!
Wow, I don’t even know how to begin to describe my fabulous weekend! Sorry for the picture overload, but I had a really hard time narrowing down pictures :)
Neely came to OKC to visit me for the first time! I was so excited to be able to show her around my city.
Reunited and it feels so good :) I have missed this girl SO MUCH!
After we settled into our hotel, we went to lunch, and I took Neely by The Vintage Pearl! We also made a quick stop by Peachwave, a frozen yogurt shop.

I had to share this pic! At Blissdom, Heather got all of the roomies these adorable bags with our blog logos! Of course we had to bring them :)
We did a little more running around OKC, and then it was time to go to the concert!

So excited! Our seats ended up being amaaaaazing! The main stage was in the middle of the floor, so we were really close!
Up first was Boyz II Men!!
These guys are just so good! They have phenomenal voices and still perform as good as they did back in the day!

We were sooooooo excited to see them!

98 Degrees came next! I had already seen Boyz II Men and New Kids on the Block before, so the highlight of the concert for me was 98 Degrees. I was SO HAPPY, y’all!

I. Love. Nick. Lachey. He is beautiful.

Yeah, I was a little excited. Don’t judge me :)

Drew! He’s kind of adorable.

Justin & Jeff!

They were so awesome! They sang all of their best songs like “The Hardest Thing”, “My Everything”, and “Because of You”. They were number two on my favorite boy band list, and I have wanted to see them for YEARS! It was so fun to finally get to see them!
New Kids on the Block closed the show!
It amazes me that after so many years, they can still put on a fantastic show!
Not gonna lie, they all still look pretty good too :)
It was such a fun day! Having Neely here was so wonderful, and the concert was incredible. We missed Jessica a lot, and hopefully the three of us can get together soon.
Hope y’all had a great weekend!

Happies & Crappies

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up
Hey y’all!
It’s Friday, and I am SO EXCITED! Linking up with my girls Stephanie and Sarah to share the good things and not so good things about my week! Here we go!

Happies

TOMORROW is NKOTB/98*/Boyz II Men day!

I can’t even tell you how excited I am! Jessica and Neely are coming up so we can all go together! It’s fun, because in 2010 Jessica and I saw Boyz II Men together, and in 2011 Neely and I saw NKOTB together, so now we’re throwing in 98* and seeing them all together!
Jessica and Neely have never met each other, so it will be so neat to get to hang out with them both together. It’s also Neely’s first time in OKC, so I’m trying to plan some fun things for us to do before the concert. Of course, a stop at The Vintage Pearl is on the agenda :)
Today is one year from when Little Girl, Little Man, and C came into our lives!
It’s amazing to think that a year has gone by already! Sometimes it’s hard to remember what life was like without them, and I don’t know what I would do without them. I love these Littles so much, and I am thrilled that we get to be a part of their lives forever.

Crappies

Unfortunately, there is a big possibility that Jessica won’t be able to come this weekend because of some stuff at home :( We are still holding out hope that it will work, but we still aren’t sure.
I’ve had ridiculous sickies this week :( Stomach bug, which flared up my stomach ulcer, which left me curled up in a ball in severe pain for a couple of days.
I’m finally starting to feel human again, but I’m still not great. Hoping it will be all better by the tomorrow!
What are the happies and crappies of your week? Link them up with Stephanie and Sarah!
