Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays 2012

Hey y’all!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was nice, but it didn’t really go according to plan at all. We had to cut our trip home short because of a snowstorm that didn’t happen, so we were all pretty bummed. Thee only thing making it ok is that Momma and Daddy will be here sometime next week to celebrate Christmas with our family here!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

Our pretty Christmas tree

My cute parents

Momma & me

The bro & the momma

The boys both got Duck Dynasty books

I got Still Lolo by Lauren Scruggs! I have been following Lauren’s story since her plane accident, and she has been such an inspiration! I’ve been dying to get her book, and I can’t wait to read it!

We got Daddy tickets to see Bon Jovi!

Colby and I are so excited to get to go with him!

Momma got an iPad!!

Momma and Daddy surprised me with a TV! I had no idea it was coming!

LOVING having a big TV! I’ve still been using the tiny one I got when I was a senior in high school!

After opening gifts together, we went out to my grandparents’ house to do Christmas with them.

My wonderful grandparents

All of the grandkids

Cousins!

Ok, back on one of my Sunday Social posts, I mentioned that my favorite Christmas dessert was cookie-press cookies. Mom-mom hadn’t made them in several years because it hurts her hands to make them. When she read on my blog that they were my favorites, she decided to make them for me! I was so surprised! I know it had to be hard for her to make them, and I can’t begin to say how much that meant to me! Thanks again, Mom-mom! You’re the best!

K and me

Me and my fabulous momma

Toooooooo many Christmas tree cookies!

My favorite picture from Christmas! I had a nasty cold all weekend, and Grandaddy was teasing me about carrying around a roll of tissue paper with me because my nose was running so much!

I did Christmas with Jessica and the kiddos, but things were so crazy that we didn’t take any pictures :( She got my this beautiful Jessica Simpson bag! I LOVE it!

When Jessica’s K was little bitty, I started a tradition of buying books for him for Christmas, and as Jessica has had more kids, I have kept the tradition going. K is always so excited to see what books he’s going to get! Before I came home from OKC, I picked out new books for all of them. When we got home from church Sunday morning, I found this:
K’s book! She pulled the book from under the tree and shredded it! I don’t know what got into her, but I was so mad!

Monday, Momma and I were wrapping gifts in her room, and when we came out, we found this:
Right away, I knew Sandy had done it, but if there had been any doubt, the evidence was right in her mouth!
She tried to act so innocent! We know from now on not to leave the gifts under the tree if we aren’t there!

Jack-Jack got a present too! I got him some of his favorite mouse toys!
He was so proud!

He didn’t know which one to play with first, so he threw all of them around!

Worn out from all the fun! He’s such a precious boy!

Yesterday was C’s birthday, so we went to Gatti Town to celebrate!

Wade & C playing a hunting game

Little Man insisted on playing skee ball, so Colby helped him!

After the party, we went back to Wade and Joyce’s house to do Christmas with them.
Part of my gift! I am always complaining about being cold, so Joyce knew this would be perfect for me! It is soooooo soft and soooooo warm that I may never take it off :)

Even though things didn’t go like we planned, it was great to be able to go home for a couple of days and see my family. I feel like I’ve barely seen them this year, so it was nice to just be with them. I can’t wait for Momma and Daddy to come up to OKC so we can have a little more time together.

My 2012 recap will be up on Monday! I’m excited to get a chance to look back over the last year! So much has happened!

Have a great weekend, y’all!

Hey y’all!

I hope you’re all having a great weekend. My heart is heavy thinking about the shooting in Connecticut. I can’t imagine what those families must be going through. There will be a day of blog silence on Tuesday to show support for the victims of this terrible act. Details are in this post.

Getting out of bed! Seriously, it’s the absolute worst part of my day!

Support for Sandy Hook

To the Blog World and anyone else who wants to help,

Yesterday, tragedy struck so many of us in ways we did not foresee. An elementary school and small town in Connecticut was shattered by a mass shooting. We knew we wanted to help and we came up with this:

On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence. We will post the button and that’s it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

“Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING.”

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

We can’t imagine how they must be feeling, especially this close to the holidays. We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let’s make a difference and use blogging in a positive way. Thank you in advance for participating.

 Love,
The Blog World

p.s. If you would like to, copy-paste and repost any part of this, please do. Share on.

Big thanks to Neely, Meg, and Michelle for organizing this!

I am thrilled to be a part of a fabulous group of bloggers that enjoy *NSYNC Christmas music as much as I do! :)

Meet the wonderful stars of the video!

Ashley @ Ashley’s Carnival Ride (me!)

We had a wonderful time, and we hope you enjoy our video!

Hey! That’s Pin-tastic!

i love you more than carrots

Hey y’all!

Today I’m linking up with AP for Hey! That’s Pin-tastic! I’m sharing a craft project I did while babysitting on Saturday night!

I love doing crafts with the kids, so this week, I knew I wanted something Christmasy.

This pin was my inspiration:

Instead of using fingerpaints, we used PUDDING!

I used vanilla and chocolate pudding and food coloring. First, I dyed some of the vanilla green to use for the sleigh, and then I “painted” it on the bottom of the kids’ feet.

We made a footprint on a big piece of white paper.

Then, the kids licked the pudding off their feet!
Don’t worry. We washed their feet before we started :)

Next came the handprints! We used the chocolate pudding to make the reindeer.

Yum-o!

I dyed a little bit of vanilla pudding red, and we used that to make Santa in the sleigh. We used a marker to connect the reindeer to the sleigh, and then we were finished!
So cute!

The kids said this was their favorite of alllll the crafts we’ve done together!

After we finished, we dyed more pudding to let them have a fun snack!
We had so much fun! I adore these kiddos!
