The Sunday Social, Week 38

Sunday Social
Hey y’all!

Today, we are taking it back to middle school and high school! We want to know what you were like back in the day!

1. What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake?
Oh goodness…big poofy bangs, overall shorts, waaaaaay too much lime green. Good stuff!

2. Who were your best friends in high school? Pics?
Jessica and I have been friends since kindergarten, and I think middle school is when we really figured out that we couldn’t live without each other.

There was also Britni, Randa, Michelle, and we pretty much hung out every day. I was in color guard, so I got pretty close to a few of those girls too.

3. What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?
Jessica and I were usually at each other’s house, or the whole group would go to Randa’s house on Friday nights. We also went to Texas to go to the movies, shopping, or out to dinner. I was kind of a homebody, so I liked to spend a lot of weekends sleeping alllllll day Saturday :)

4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? Tell us about that.
I dated a guy off and on through most of high school. He was a really great guy, but we just weren’t right for each other.

5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends? Spill your secrets!
We did! In middle school, we had nicknames for each other and other people in our class. We really loved talking about people when they were right beside us, knowing they had no idea we were talking about them!

6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?
It’s hard to pick just one! Getting picked as color guard captain was a pretty fantastic day!
It was something I really never imagined would happen, and I was so excited! Another fabulous day was going to see *NSYNC in concert with Jessica when we were 13!

Alrighty, it’s your turn! Answer the questions, grab our button, and link up with Neely and me!

The Sunday Social, Week 37

Sunday Social
Hey y’all!

Today is my birthday!

It would make my birthday absolutely wonderful if we could have our most link-ups in the history of Sunday Social! Think we can make it happen?

Today’s questions are all about Valentine’s Day.

1. What is the best Valentine’s Day you’ve ever had?
The guy I dated in high school always did sweet things for me on Valentine’s Day. One year, he gave me a sweet handmade card with a poem on it and also had flowers sent to me at school. It was super sweet!

2. What is the worst Valentine’s Day you’ve ever had?
I can’t think of a “bad” Valentine’s Day. I don’t normally do much of anything, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad Valentine’s Day!
3. What did you do for Valentine’s this year?
I ended up having to work late, so I came home and pretty much went straight to bed. Exciting stuff here, I tell ya!

4. What is your best Valentine’s idea if you’re single?
Several years ago, a group of girlfriends and I went to dinner and a movie together. We had sooooo much fun!

5. What is your favorite Valentine’s candy?
Chocolate. Any kind of chocolate! This year I had probably 500 Reeses hearts.

6. Favorite Valentine’s memory from your childhood?
Momma and Daddy always had balloons and fun stuff waiting for us when we got home from school! It was always so exciting!

Your turn! Answer the questions, grab our button, and link up with Neely and me!

Birthday Snow!

Hey y’all!
So…I have a birthday coming up. Sunday. The big 2-7. I have to admit, I’m feeling REEEEEEEEEALLY old . 25 was hard, 26 was great, but 27? I don’t know about this, y’all!
Anyway, nearly every year, we get our last snow of the season sometime during the week of my birthday. Tuesday, we got a beautiful big snow!

The snowflakes were soooooo big and pretty!
It didn’t take long for the whole parking lot to be covered!

Kendall and I went outside and played for a little while :)

It was such a pretty day!

Blogger Lip Sync v.2: No Scrubs

Hey y’all!
So…you remember our fun Blogger Merry Christmas Happy Holidays video, right? Well, it was so much fun that we did another one!

*Sorry for the not-so-nice word that appears in the song a couple of times. I don’t use that word, and I for sure didn’t sing it when I was recording my video! Just wanted to give y’all a little warning :)

Enjoy!
Big thanks to Sar for coming up with the awesome idea and for doing all of the editing! You’re awesome, girlie! Make sure you go check out all of the other fabulous bloggers in the video too!

Fun with Harlem Globetrotters

Hey y’all!
Saturday, Colby and I went with Wade, Joyce, the twins, the college kids, and C to see the Harlem Globetrotters! We had never seen them before, and it was SO MUCH FUN!
I adore these kiddos! Wish they would cooperate for pictures though!

Globie, the mascot

Introducing the players

The guy in white and black is one of our local radio DJs. Really cool that he got to play!

It was such a fun game! We loved getting to take C because he hasn’t ever experienced anything like that before! He got a basketball and had one of the players sign it. He had a great time, and it was fun getting to watch him!
If you ever have the chance to go see the Globetrotters, GO! They were very entertaining!
Don’t forget about Trendy Twitter Party tonight!
Have a great Tuesday, y’all!

The Sunday Social, Week 36

Sunday Social

Hey y’all!

Can you believe it’s week 36 of Sunday Social?! Craziness!

This week’s questions are more fun childhood questions!

1. What was your first car?
I had a silver 1998 Nissan Altima! It was my grandparents before I got it. I absolutely loved it! I drove it until my junior year of college. It was really a great car!

2. Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
Oh, there were a lot of them! My first grade teacher did a lot of really awesome projects and activities with us. Second grade, third grade, and fifth grade were all pretty great. Ninth and eleventh grade English teachers were fantastic, and I loved my chemistry/physics teacher and my math teacher I had all four years.

3. Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities? Share pictures if you can!
I’ve blogged before about my jump rope team from elementary school. That was a fabulous time of my life!

I was in color guard all four years of high school, and I was captain my senior year!

4. What was your favorite birthday party?
When I was in fifth grade, my birthday party was 50s themed! We all wore poodle skirts, and my cake was decorated to look like a record. My friends STILL talk about that fabulous party!

5. Who was your teen celebrity crush?
I adored JC Chasez from *NSYNC. He was my boy!

6. What show/movie did your parents not allow you to watch?
Ohh, there were lots of things :) As a kid, I wasn’t allowed to watch Rugrats because Momma didn’t like Angelica’s attitude. I couldn’t make this stuff up, folks! Haha!

I also wasn’t allowed to watch anything on MTV. FINALLY, I talked them into letting me watch TRL so I could watch *NSYNC videos!

Alrighty, it’s your turn! Answer the questions, grab our button, and link up with Neely and me!

Let’s Talk About the Grammys!

Hey y’all!
The 55th Grammy Awards are happening on Sunday night! Y’all know I love watching award shows, and the Grammys are definitely one of my favorites!
Let’s talk about the big awards. Record of the Year nominees include songs by Kelly Clarkson, fun., The Black Keys, Frank Ocean, and Gotye. While I’d love to see Kelly win for “Stronger”, I think it’s going to come down between fun.’s “We Are Young” and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”.

Song of the Year is another category that fun. could win in, but Carly Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” was HUGE this past year! Kelly’s “Stronger” is a nominee here too, so I think any of the three could take it!

Album of the Year has albums from fun., Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, and Jack White. Again, I think fun. is going to take this category!
Best New Artist is a VERY interesting category this year! There are five very different artists in five different genres. We have country cutie Hunter Hayes, pop band fun., up-and-coming rockers Alabama Shakes, R&B hitmaker Frank Ocean, and indie artists The Lumineers. Frank Ocean has been in the headlines more than the others, but this has been the year of fun. for sure! My country boy Hunter definitely has my vote, but my gut tells me fun. is going to sweep the awards this year!
My fingers are also crossed for my girl Carrie Underwood! She’s the only female nominee for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, and I’m definitely rooting for her!
I’m looking forward to a fun night of exciting awards and fabulous performances!
Will you be watching?

Happies & Crappies

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up
Hey y’all!
I’m linking up again today with Stephanie and Sarah for Happies and Crappies, where we share the good and not so good things about our week!

Happies

Baby D is here! I wish I had pictures to share *cough Teddie*, and as soon as I get some pictures and get permission, I’ll share some. I can’t wait to see his sweet little face, and I’m already working on plans to get out to SC to meet him. I know Teddie and R are going to be fabulous parents, and I’m just thrilled for them!

Tomorrow, Colby and I are going with Wade, Joyce, and the big kids to see the Harlem Globetrotters! We have never seen them before, and I think it will be a lot of fun to have an afternoon out with the big kids!

The Grammys are this weekend! I have another post today with my thoughts about the major categories. I can’t wait for the show!

I have seen the final draft of my new blog business cards! Jenn has done a fabulous job with them, and I can’t wait to get my hands on them!

Crappies

My email was hacked Wednesday night :( That has never happened to me before, and let me tell you, it TICKED ME OFF! I got my password changed, but because it was changed at 1 am, I can’t remember what I changed it to. Awesome.
My phone flipped out this week, and it deleted all of my contacts TWICE! Fortunately, my text messages weren’t deleted, so I was able to save a lot of numbers from texts, but I still lost a lot. I’m just sick over losing the numbers of several birth moms and adoptive parents. Sad day.
How has your week been? Share your happies and crappies with Sarah and Stephanie!

Weekend Fun…and the giveaway winner!

Hey y’all!
Is it just me, or is this week flying by? I can’t believe it’s Wednesday and I haven’t blogged at all! I have just a couple of fun things from the weekend.
First things first!
The winner of my blogoversary giveaway is Katie!
Congratulations girlie! I’ll be in touch with you soon!
Friday, I was able to get tickets for Jessica, Neely, and me to see…
Oh yes. It’s happening. I love these boys, and I love that I’m getting to see them with two of my best friends! It’s also probably going to be the first time Jessica and Neely meet each other, which will be pretty cool! AND, I’ve seen NKOTB with Neely and Boyz II Men with Jessica, so both girls plus both bands, and add in 98 Degrees, and it’s pretty much going to be a perfect weekend!
Saturday at the shop, we had a big Valentine’s sale! We used a new cupcake place that made THE BEST mini cupcakes ever! I just may have eaten more than I should have :)
Sunday evening, Colby and I went to Wade and Joyce’s house after church to watch the Superbowl. I didn’t get to watch very much of the game, but I did catch the halftime show!
WOW!
I thought she killed it. I honestly thing that was the best halftime show since Aerosmith/*NSYNC/Britney/Mary J, no joke! THEN, when the rest of the girls from Destiny’s Child came out??
I don’t know about y’all, but 14 year old Ashley was really wanting to throw her hands up in the air Independent Women style! It was a fabulous show!
Alrighty, it’s late (writing this Tuesday night), so I better go before things start getting weird :) Coming up this week, there’s going to be Grammy Awards fun and some happies with maybe a few crappies too
Have a great Wednesday y’all!
