Top 2 Tuesday-Guilty Pleasures

new top 2

Today’s Top 2 Tuesday is guilty pleasures. I posted five of mine here, so I’ll highlight two of them today!

1. Pop Music

From 7th grade to about 10th grade, all we listened to was teenybopper pop music. *NSYNC was our obsession, but we also listened to stuff like Britney, Jessica, Mandy Moore, S Club 7, 98 Degrees, B*Witched (seriously), and Christina Aguilera. Those songs bring back so many memories of making up dances on Jessica’s trampoline and riding around in her jeep with the top off holding the stereo (because she didn’t have a car CD player) singing *NSYNC at the top of our lungs. Yep, we thought we were cool. I have all of this stuff on my iPod, and I actually have a playlist of my favorites of these songs.

2. Mint chocolate chip ice cream

I love this stuff! I even eat it during the winter! So good!

“You Can Stand Under My Umbrella…”

So, apparently, the skies are dropping massive amounts of rain in a nice little pattern across the country. They started with those horrible floods in the Nashville area, then moved to Arkansas, and today, they reached the OKC metro. The last number I heard was that the average amount of rainfall in the metro was 9.58 inches. It started raining around midnight and rained extremely hard pretty much all morning. It took forever to get to the office, and I made it just in time. Here are a couple of pictures that I took outside my office.

Right after I took this one, I had to move my car up to a higher area of the parking lot. We watched through the window as the water got closer and closer.

100_2050
This was taken from the window in my office. Under all of that water is a road, a grassy curb, and a small parking lot. An old woman was driving this car, and she tried to avoid the water by driving in the grass, but got stuck.

Here are a few more flood pictures from www.newsok.com.

Another round of rain has just started falling, and it is supposed to rain for awhile tonight. We are hoping and praying that there is no more flooding tonight.

I hope all of you are having a great week! I have had a super busy week, and I’ve barely had any blogger time. I feel like I’m so behind on reading blogs. I’m going to try to catch up this weekend, and I can’t wait to see what all of you have been up to this week!

Wishful Wednesday

LBWishfulWednesdayButtonI’m out of town at a conference tomorrow, so I’m posting a bit early tonight!

This week’s Wishful Wednesday is…

‘I wish’ …. I had the opportunity to change careers and it would be __________!

My dream job is to be a television news anchor. I’d love to do be on either the Today Show or Good Morning America!

todaygood-morning-america

In elementary school, in one of my classes, we had to divide into groups and do a weather report. Our teacher filmed all of them, and we watched them back. I was the weather girl in my group, and when the class voted, I was chosen as best weather report! I’d always been interested in the news, and that was kind of the push I needed.

When I started college, my major was broadcast communications. After a couple of semesters of taking broadcasting classes, I had a teacher that really discouraged all of us from pursuing broadcasting. He convinced us that there was no future for broadcasters. As much as I love what I do now, I do sometimes wish I’d ignored him!

I loved Katie Couric and Matt Lauer on the today show, and I used to watch it every morning while getting ready for school. Katie was so funny, and Matt is a hottie! :)

katie matt Since Katie left Today for CBS Evening News, I started watching more of Good Morning America. Love Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts!

diane robin When Diane left GMA for World News Tonight, I started watching her there. I also have been watching Nightline for more news!

I’ve loved the news for so long. I have a list of news sites that I visit every day, and I even have 8 news apps on my iPhone! :) If I could do it all over again, I would love to pursue a career in communications!

What job would you love to have? Play along and read more at Kelsey’s blog!

Top 2 Tuesday-Favorite Books

new top 2

Today’s Top 2 Tuesday is favorite books! I have always been a huge reader, and I have TONS of books, so it was hard, but I finally narrowed it down to my top two!

1. Redemption by Karen Kingsbury

redemptionKaren is my favorite author, and I love so many of her books! Redemption is the very first book of hers that I read, and I have read it many times since then. Her books are so inspirational, and I love them!

2. A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks

a-walk-to-rememberLove love love Nicholas Sparks books! I think I cried harder in A Walk To Remember than I did in any of the others, but it has always been my favorite of his. I think I could relate better because the main characters are teenagers, and I was a teenager when I first read it. I enjoyed the movie, even with all of the changes it made, but I still love re-reading the book!

What books do you love? Link up with Taylor at The Undomestic Momma!

Favorite Friday-Movie Trilogy

Today’s Favorite Friday topic is Favorite Movie Trilogy! You’re probably going to laugh at me, but my favorite one is the Rush Hour trilogy!

I know it sounds crazy, but Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker together are sooooooo funny!

Rush Hour 2 has the best quotes! I won’t quote them all for you, but it’s good stuff!

Show Us Your Life-Random Acts of Kindness

KellyShowUs

This week’s Show Us Your Life topic is random acts of kindness. When I was in college, my church’s college class had a group called RAK, which stood for Random Acts of Kindness. We got together a couple of times a month and did some kind of activity for our community. One time, we split into groups and visited some of the elderly members of our church. My group visited a sweet little couple. She baked cookies for us, and we listened to his stories from when he was in the military during World War II.

Another week, we went to a very small, poor town close to ours and helped several families with projects around their homes. I helped clean a cute little woman’s house. After cleaning her house, she asked us to sing old hymns to her. So much fun.

Around Christmas, we baked cookies and delivered them to the fire departments around the metro. Here are a few pictures!

RAK was such a fun group to be a part of. It was very sad when it ended. Head over to Kelly’s Korner to see more random acts of kindness ideas!

Memorial Day and The Bro is 21!

My Daddy had Friday before Memorial Day off work, so he and my Momma came up to see me and the bro. Colby’s 21st birthday was yesterday, so we celebrated while Momma and Daddy were here. Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

After dinner, we went to my grandparents’ house. My Daddy and Colby went through my great-uncle’s collection of knives, so we had a little fun with them!

Pretty scary, huh?

Momma and I worked around my apartment on Saturday while the boys went to look at a new truck for Colby. He’s been looking for a new truck for about a year, and finally found one! Here he is with it!

Saturday night we went to Outback Steakhouse with our grandparents and adoptive parents from church, then hung out at the grandparents’ house for awhile.

After reading everyone’s comments and playing around with a few more friends’ phones, I finally decided on an iPhone. With the money my Momma found in my dresser, I was able to get one, and I love love love it! I seriously think it is the most amazing thing ever invented!

Momma and Daddy had to go home after Sunday morning church and lunch, so after evening church, we hung out with our adoptive family and some friends and watched this awesome movie!

the-blind-side-poster

I had Monday off, so I spent the majority of the day laying in my bed watching Glee. I should’ve done something productive, but after these last couple of crazy work weeks, I needed a day to just do nothing. It was amazing!

Monday night, I went to my adoptive family’s house and watched Princess and the Frog with Joyce and Whitley. Great, great movie! I love Disney movies anyway, and this one was really great! If you haven’t seen it, you must!

Colby went out with some of his friends Tuesday night for a birthday dinner, and it got me thinking about my 21st birthday. After cheesecake with the family, I went to dinner with Jessica. Her birthday is three days after mine. Now, we don’t drink anyway, but it is kinda funny telling people that for your 21st birthday, you had dinner with your bestie (who was about 4 1/2 months pregnant) and her two year old son, and you had virgin strawberry daiquiris!

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend. I’ll leave you with a little flashback to 2007 and my 21st birthday (back when I was really blonde)!

I Think I’m a Hoarder

My parents came up to visit over Memorial Day weekend, and they brought me my dresser from home. A couple of days before, my Momma cleaned out all of the drawers. She started texting me pictures of things she was finding, and, to be honest, as funny as it was, I can’t believe the stuff that was in there! Here are a few pictures of Momma’s findings.
