Fabulous Valentine’s Challenge-Love Telling This Bad Date Story

Valentine’s Day Challenge

Hey y’all!

I’m linking up with Neely, Amber, and Casey again today for their Valentine’s challenge!

Today’s topic is worst date ever.

This date happened about three years ago.

A little background on the boy. I met him during my internship in my last semester of college. He worked for the agency I was interning for. Anytime we did activities out of the office, we hung out and had some great conversations. I knew he liked me, and so did everyone else :)

After I finished my internship, we kept in touch through email. Several months later, he asked me out. He said he had a fun evening planned for us.

He picked me up at my apartment. When I asked where we were going, he said that we were going to the mall. Yes, you read that right. The mall. On our way to the mall, his twin brother called just to check in and say hi.

We walked around the mall a couple of times, and then he said we could go to the food court for dinner. We had cold pepperoni pizza. Um…yummy? While we were eating, he kept telling all of these really weird, really personal stories about his family. It was definitely waaaaay too deep for a first date. It made me a little uncomfortable. In the middle of these awkward conversations, his brother called again. Just to chat.

After we ate, we drove around looking at Christmas lights, and we got horribly lost. We drove around for about two hours trying to find our way out to a street we recognized. In the midst of all of this, his brother called. Again. Just to see what we were up to. Finally, we got out and he drove me home. I couldn’t wait for the night to be over.

Now, I do want to say that he is a very sweet guy. He treated me very well and was very respectful. Unfortunately, things were just painfully awkward.

Oh, and did I mention that when he wasn’t on the phone with his brother, his brother was texting him?

Homeboy needs to learn how to plan a date! THE MALL and FOOD COURT!? OMG. That takes me back to being . . . 13 years old. I hope he’s had more success in his subsequent dates!
