Show Us Your Life-Favorite Bible Verses

I know, three posts in one day is a lot, but when I saw what Kelly’s topic was today, I couldn’t not participate! Today’s Show Us Your Life topic is favorite bible verses! It’s hard to choose just a few, but here are the ones I love!

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord. ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” – Jeremiah 29:11

“Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations.” – Psalm 100

“If I speak with the tongues of me and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians 13:1-8
I really could go on all day, but I’ll stop there! Head on over to Kelly’s blog for more!

Show Us Your Life-Random Acts of Kindness

KellyShowUs

This week’s Show Us Your Life topic is random acts of kindness. When I was in college, my church’s college class had a group called RAK, which stood for Random Acts of Kindness. We got together a couple of times a month and did some kind of activity for our community. One time, we split into groups and visited some of the elderly members of our church. My group visited a sweet little couple. She baked cookies for us, and we listened to his stories from when he was in the military during World War II.

Another week, we went to a very small, poor town close to ours and helped several families with projects around their homes. I helped clean a cute little woman’s house. After cleaning her house, she asked us to sing old hymns to her. So much fun.

Around Christmas, we baked cookies and delivered them to the fire departments around the metro. Here are a few pictures!

RAK was such a fun group to be a part of. It was very sad when it ended. Head over to Kelly’s Korner to see more random acts of kindness ideas!

Show Us Your Life-Books

Today on Kelly’s Show Us Your Life Friday, the topic is favorite books/children’s books! I am a huge reader, and I could go on and on about my favorite books! To spare all of you, I’ll only talk about a few!

Adult books:

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE books are Karen Kingsbury’s Redemption series! They are so inspirational and uplifting. I got very attached to her “Baxter family”, and I have been hooked on her books ever since! If you haven’t read her books, you should! Start at Redemption and go from there!

I am also a big Nicholas Sparks fan! A Walk To Remember is one of my all-time favorite books! It amazes me that a man can write such awesome love stories. He’s so good!

I have recently started reading Beverly Lewis’ Amish books. I wasn’t sure that I would enjoy reading something like that, but I have really enjoyed them!

I have also recently read Kristin Chenoweth’s A Little Bit Wicked and Sherri Shepherd’s Permission Slips. Kristin is an Oklahoma girl like me, and I enjoyed reading about how she got her start on Broadway and television. I have been a huge fan of Sherri Shepherd since she first became a cohost on The View. She is so funny, and her book is so entertaining!

Children’s Books:

Where The Wild Things Are has been one of my favorite books since I was a kid. I love how Maurice Sendak tells such a great story with such few words. It’s so good, and I loved the movie too!

I was introduced to Sandra Boynton’s books a couple of years ago. She has great rhyming and repeating words and sounds, and they are great! The Going To Bed Book is my favorite!

A few of my other favorites: Love You Forever, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Napping House, & Goodnight Moon!

Last, I will leave you with another Karen Kingsbury book. The Princess and Three Knights is her latest children’s book. It is a very sweet story with beautiful pictures.
