Killer Ants and Bomb Threats

Oh. My. Goodness.

What. A. Day.

Today has been absolutely crazy. I spent most of the day out distributing our marketing materials to hospitals and doctors offices, and it seemed like the more the day went on, the worse it got.

It started when I found this thing on my steering wheel while I was driving down the turnpike.antI am not kidding, this picture is actual size. It was crawling toward my hand! I was on the phone with my momma and I almost freaked out. I found a receipt in the console so I tried to grab and squish it, but it fell onto the floorboard! I exited and pulled into the bookstore parking lot and jumped out. After searching for a couple of minutes, I finally found and squished it.

When I got to one of the hospitals, I had to drop off our brochures with the case management office. The front desk worker sent me up to the case management floor. They said I had to sign in on another floor and get an ID badge, so I went down to that floor. When I told that worker who I was, she told me that I had to fill in my information on the computer and it would print my badge. She said the computer was really easy to use. It would tell me step by step what to do, and it was pretty self-explanatory. THEN, she stared at me for a few moments, then said, “I probably better help you.”

WHAT?

Do I look like I’m a not a smart person? Am I not capable of following simple computer directions?

Several of the places I was supposed to visit had either closed or moved locations. I ended up not being able to meet a lot of the people I needed to.

On my way back to the office, I was on the highway, and the traffic started backing up. I couldn’t switch lanes quickly enough to exit, so I ended up in it. It. Was. Awful.

I got stuck in this mess! It took me about 40 minutes to go one mile.
broadway People were crossing over the grass to get out of the traffic! Crazy!

broadway2 Several people got stuck in the grass because this area was gross and muddy from being underwater on Monday!

I called Teddie to see if she was home and could watch the news. She said that the highway was closed because a suspicious box was found inside a power substation! Someone had cut through the fence and left this box. They had to call in the BOMB SQUAD!

It ended up just being a toolbox that a worker left, and someone attached a “suspicious note” to it, so I’m glad it wasn’t anything serious.

I ended the day getting to snuggle with a precious little baby, so it made my bad mood go away.

I really appreciate all of the comments and emails expressing concern after the flooding we had on Monday. Things have dried out quite a bit, but there are still a few areas under water, and some bridges and roads that need to be repaired.

I posted this picture on Monday that I took outside my office. I wanted to show y’all what was under all of that water.

100_2054 It’s kind of unbelievable that all of this was covered in water. We’re very lucky, though, because it could’ve been so much worse.

Hope you all have had a great week so far! Only two more days until the weekend! Woo hoo!
