“It’s like blogging, but with boys!”

A couple of months ago, these two nerds decided that I needed a boyfriend asap.
Without my permission, they set up a profile for me on a Christian dating website.

Seriously.

Honestly, I tried to laugh it off in front of them, but I was actually pretty upset. I know I share so much of my life online, but I’m actually a pretty private person, especially when it comes to dating.

I talked with my momma after work that day, and she convinced me to just try it out. I work in a female-dominated area, so it’s not like I can meet guys at work. She also said that since I’ve made so many great friends through blogging, there’s not really anything weird about meeting a guy online. Sarah’s thoughts on it were “It’s like blogging, but with boys!” I finally gave in and decided to try it for a bit. Maybe I’d meet a great guy, but if not, I’d surely get some good blog material!

I’ve definitely gotten some blogworthy messages. It cracks me up reading what some of these guys say!

Um…thanks?

Sorry dude, read the message before you click send!

My what is pretty?

I don’t really even have words for this one. My account’s about to run out?

There have been a few decent guys. I emailed/talked on the phone/texted with one guy, but things just didn’t really feel right. I’ve gotten lots of really sweet emails, but most guys were out of my age range, too far away, or just not my type.

Until one day…

I got an email from a cute boy that lives not too far from OKC. We emailed back and forth a bit and found out we had a lot in common. We started texting and found out we have some mutual friends and even went to the same church for a little while!

Eventually, texting led to talking on the phone, and then we decided to meet in person. He drove up here, and we met at church for the first time. We had a fantastic day together, and we ended up hanging out the next day too.

Meet Tyler!

The last few weeks have been lots of fun. Most of the time we spend together is just sitting on my couch talking, but it seems like we never run out of things to talk about. We’ve gone to church together a few times here, and I went to his church a couple of weeks ago. He’s even been out to Joyce and Wade’s house with me a couple of times.

Things are good! We share a lot of the same beliefs and morals, which makes things a lot easier. We’re enjoying learning more about each other and just spending time together. It’s fun!

Anyone else have any fun online dating stories to share?? I’d love to hear them!

Hope y’all have a great Thursday!

Awww…yay! I’m so glad the experience ended up a positive one. Oh my. I DO have online “dating” experience but mine were not normal or anything I’d like to publicize. Sorry to tease and run but have a great day!

Awww yay! The first few blog posts I have are about the crazy men I’ve either gone on a date with or just spoken to. I’m glad you found a winner though. You look very cute together!

Oh I have some great ones. One of my favorites was “I want to do you”. Yep. Like that is going to make me want to meet you. Seriously?

I am in an online dating success story as well. It worked out great for us and I hope it works out well for you too!! Congrats!

This is so awesome! What site did you use. We have tried to talk one of our friends into doing this but she won’t bite the bullet. Maybe your story will help push her along.

I loved this post. Made me smile. I met my ex on Myspace, and we dated for 3 years. I do believe that you can meet great guys online. I’m so glad you went through with it. Great friends you have.

I love this story! My good friend met her fiance on EHarmony and they are getting married later this month!

I joined Match.com for a brief moment in time to research a story I was writing. There are a LOT of weirdos out there, for sure.

Best of luck to you and Tyler!

Hey! I actually met my husband on a christian chat room. He lived in Philly. He came down to meet me and then I went to meet him. Did this a couple times then we started dating! A year later I moved to Philly and he proposed. We moved back to Oklahoma and this October we will have been marreid for 2 years!
