Women of Faith Weekend Update

Hey y’all!
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
Mine was…incredible. I don’t really know how to even begin to describe what this weekend was like, but I will do my best.
Women of Faith was held in Oklahoma City this weekend. When the speakers were announced, Jessica and I were thrilled that Angie Smith was on the schedule!
I’ve been reading Angie’s blog for at least three years, and I think Jessica has been reading about that long too. I have laughed with her and cried happy and sad tears with her. I’ve been so inspired by Angie and Todd’s faith as they lost their precious Audrey. I knew that I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to see Angie!
Jessica came up Friday afternoon, and we headed down to Chesapeake Arena.
Sitting with my bestie waiting for it to start! We had floor seats!

Yay!
Our fabulous speakers! L-R Pat Smith, Christine Caine, Sheila Walsh, Ken Davis, Liz Curits Higgs, and Angie Smith

Cece Winans performed! She has one of the most incredible voices I’ve ever heard!

Ken Davis

Sheila Walsh
When it was over, Jessica and I had our traditional dessert-key lime pie!

Waiting for day two to start!

The Jesus Painter

Liz Curtis Higgs-I’d never heard of her before Women of Faith, but I kinda love her! She said some of the coolest things! “Eve only had one commandment and it was a diet! She couldn’t have thrown it all away for an apple…it had to be chocolate.” “You are God’s definition of beautiful for you.”

Christine Caine

Ballet Magnificat performed several times. Jessica and I decided that Sweet P needs to be a ballet dancer. No, really.

They were wonderful!

Finally, the moment we’d waited all weekend for!
The incredible Angie Smith!

“God is in the deep.”

At the end of her presentation, Selah performed “I Turn to You”.
When Angie was finished, Jessica and I ran to the autograph line. We HAD to meet her!
So excited!

I adore this picture! It was such an honor to meet her, and we had a beautiful few moments together! I told her what an honor it was to meet her, and that I’ve been following her blog for around three years. I told her how Audrey’s story touched me so much, and I thanked her for sharing Audrey with us. She took my hand and said “Thank you for knowing Audrey.” I started crying, and I’m teary again just writing about it. She said that she prays when she goes to the autograph line that someone in the crowd will be someone who follows her, someone who knows her precious family.

She was just so sweet! It was more wonderful than I imagined it would be!

This is my new blog friend Courtney! We met in the line to meet Angie! We were just talking about Angie, and she mentioned she had a blog, so I told her I do too! We exchanged blog addresses, and we had to have a picture together! Excuse my puffy eyes and red nose :)

Q&A with our speakers

Angie answering a question

Pat Smith! She is married to Emmitt Smith, and she is the cutest little thing ever!

Angie and Sheila introducing Selah!

Todd!

Amy!

Allan!

They are wonderful! I am so glad we got to see them! After their first song, Todd stopped and looked over at Angie and said, “You were amazing today. I’m so proud of you.” We started crying again!

Todd teaching Sheila and an audience member on of their African songs

I got to meet Todd! He was super nice, shaking my hand, asking my name, and thanking me for coming. So cool to meet him and Angie both!

One last shot of Angie during the closing!
What a wonderful time we had! I’m so thankful that we got to experience this weekend together. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a weekend just the two of us, so I’m glad we got girl time and I’m glad we got to meet Angie together!
My weekend was pretty full, so I’ll be back later this week with the rest of the weekend recap!
Have a great Monday, y’all!
